Part 24
To say Katiniss looked shocked was an understatement. She looked totally flabbergasted! I don't think I have ever seen her shake so much while she slightly nodded her head yes. Then the nodding became quicker and a huge smile escaped her lips.
"Well then..." Ryan said, trying to signal for Adam to leave. Unfortunately, Adam didn't get the message.
Katiniss gave Adam a quick hug and then sat down. "Adam, uh, I don't know what to say..." Katiniss giggled sheepishly. She looked to Ryan, who had 'disapproving' written all over his face. He opened his mouth to say something.
"Katiniss-", Ryan started, but was quickly cut off by the sound of Mme.'s voice.
"Adam, you better be in the class in 30 seconds or you will be in the engagement room for the next few recesses." Mme. warned strictly. I know what you're thinking, Mme is totally mean. But she's not at all, she's just really good at doing her job.
"But, I-"
"No buts mister. Lets get moving here." Mme. practically grabbed Adam by the collar and dragged him back to the classroom. Luckily for us though, Adam was finally gone.
"Ryan, are you okay? You look a little pale." Macy asked, sounding very concerned.
"Yeah yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about me. It's Katiniss that needs the concern right now. I think you should know something before you start the relationship," He sounded very serious, and all of us sitting in the engagement room stiffened up. This was going to get ugly, I could feel it.
"Ryan, if you're going to warn me away from Adam, don't waste your breath. I already said yes, and I'm not planning on changing that." Katiniss answered sternly.
"I am not going to warn you off Adam. Just hear me out," She nodded signaling him to continue. "Adam, he can be a little, quick, -I don't really know if that's the right word or not- let's just say he changes his mind a lot." Ryan started. "I know for a fact that Adam does like you, and has liked you for a while, but I also know that he had his eyes on Tia and Destiny as well. He doesn't seem to want to stick with one girl."
"Ryan, why are you telling me this?" She shouted at him.
"Because, I just don't want to see you get hurt. I wouldn't be able to bear seeing any of you girls be hurt, I may come across as a bad guy, but I'm not. You five girls have been better friends to me then any other guys in my entire life, I know that sounds super gay, but I'm not," He paused to give a pointed look to Kathy who lifted her hands in surrender. "And I want to be the same for you. I want you to believe me when I say this. Any guy who hurts any of you, will not see tomorrow." All of us girls stifled a laugh.
"Thanks Ryan, I think we all needed to hear that." Aisha responded kindly.
"So what happens when you hurt me?" Macy asked with a smug smile.
"Well, first of all, hopefully that's not gonna happen. Second of all, I'll probably punch a wall and believe me I've been there and it hurts like a bi-"
"Oh never mind. I think I'll just get my brother to beat you up." She said so seriously that I almost believed her, except for one part.
"You have an older brother?" Ryan asked worriedly.
The girls and I burst out laughing.
"Of course not," Macy clarified after we finished our chorus of chuckles. "I would've told you if I did, it's my little sister you have to worry about."
Ryan rolled his eyes playfully and I was still stifling my laugh. "I think I could take her." Ryan said sarcastically.
Macy sighed over-dramatically, "You say that now, but just you wait."
"I'm glad to see that you guys are back to normal again, but we were having a conversation about Adam and Katiniss, remember?" I interrupted with an amused smile.
"Right." Macy stated bluntly.
"Anyway Katiniss, if you think Adam will make you happy, then by all means, go out with him, but if he does anything to hurt you, I will make him wish he hadn't." Katiniss looked at Ryan as he finished his mini speech and she gave him a huge smile. At that moment, she looked truly happy. Something I had not seen from her in a while. I'm glad she moved on from Ryan.
"Thanks. That means a lot to me, and to be honest, I do think he'll make me happy." And with that, I was pretty sure we had finished sorting out or problems. Next thing you know, Ryan brings up a topic that brought some awkward silence to the table.
"So, who's everyone going to grad with?" He asked.
That caused an eruption of "ums, and uhs", to come from Aisha, Kathy, and I, with no one really having anyone to go with. As far as I was concerned, going by myself was fine, and I had no problem with it, but some people, -Kathy-, were a little more dependant on getting a date. Just her nature I guess.
"Well, I have absolutely know idea what so ever who I'm going with since no one in the world has asked me yet." Macy said, playing dumb. She looked pointedly to Ryan who looked alittle embarrassed.
"Macy, do you want to go with me?" He questioned casually.
"Go where, Ryan?" She replied acting like she had no idea what he was on about and making him suffer just a tad more. Ryan stood up, right in front of Macy.
"Macy, will you please do me the great honor of allowing me to escort you to our graduation?" He said, playing it up as much as possible.
"Ryan, I don't think I can go with you..." She trailed off sadly. Ryan's face fell faster then the rest of us could gasp.
"...What? Macy," He looked devastated.
She looked him straight in the eye and said, "Ryan, I'm just-" she paused for dramatic effect, "Kidding! I'd love to go with you Ryan, you idiot." She got up and gave him a huge hug while the colour started to come back into his face. He breathed a sigh of relief and laughed.
Somehow, no matter what we went through, I think we'll always be able to work it out. No matter how extreme or devastating, we can always turn to each other. And to be honest, that's all I ever wanted.
