Chapter 14

Adam and I had been spending most of our practice time arguing and fighting.

We weren't making progress at all.

Also, I had totally forgotten about my solo. I was so doomed.

"What do you mean you and Adam aren't making progress?!" Sara asked, looking mad at me.

"It's not my fault he's an idiot and the worst guitar player in history." I said and crossed my arms over my chest.

"Sophia, you do know that you two have about two weeks only?" She said and I cringed.

"Well the room is busy most of the time and... You're right." I sighed when I saw the look she was giving me.

"You two have to find somewhere else to play." She said. "And fast."

I groaned and grabbed my cello case. I opened the door and walked out of the cabin to Adam's cabin on the boys' side.

"Adam!" I called while knocking on the door.

"What?" Adam grumbled when he opened the door.

"Get your guitar and follow me. I'm not taking no for an answer." I said and started walking.

"Wait up!" He said and ran inside to grab his guitar then he followed me.

"Where are we going to practice?" He asked.

"Up the hill, I guess. We have no other option." I said.

"Cool. I like that place." He said.

"Let's just keep walking. And we're going to go through the no talking policy again." I said and he nodded silently.

We entered the house and took our seats.

We started going through Libertango together and we were actually playing together for once at the same time and same pace.

"Okay. Now let's try the other one. This one is really good. This is the one we're starting with. Then Blackbird by the Beatles is our second one because everybody loves the Beatles." I said and Adam nodded.

"Yeah, that sounds good. Now let's try it out."

We started playing together and I couldn't help but smile at how good it sounded when I was strumming with him on my cello then I joined in with my bow.

It sounded perfect. It was everything I imagined it would be.

Seriously, I was obsessed with it. People will want us to make it an official song. It was perfect!

"Oh my god! Adam that was the best thing we've ever done!" I said and it turned out I wasn't the only one excited about this.

"I know! I love it!" He exclaimed.

"We're going to win!" I said and walked over to where he stood so we could high five.

"I already see the crowd going wild." He said and instead of giving me a high five he pulled me into a hug which I accepted without really thinking.

What has happened to my brain?

Wake up, brain!

He let go of me and had a huge smile on his face.

"Now we just need to go through it a couple more times the coming weeks to perfect it." I said.

"Yep." He nodded.

"Now what?" I asked.

"We celebrate." He said and grabbed two root beers from the fridge.

He handed me one and took the other.
