Jai

July 20th:

I begged Ayla to let me take her to her exams today but she told me no. Said that I'd be a distraction, and that there was no point in me waiting around for four hours or more while she tested. I agreed, to give her space, but assured her that I was only trying to see if there was anything I could do to help her relax more about this testing. That was no use. The past week she has been so stressed, so anxious I tried everything I could possibly think of to help her out. I forced her to go and get a massage yesterday, because I couldn't stand to see her so restless. And although it was hard to see her experiencing this tension, I could understand why it was happening.

I kept forgetting that when she was studying, she was actually taking two exams, one to be a certified midwife, and one to be a doctor of nursing practice. Yeah, I had forgotten all about that, until this week, when she reminded me of the four plus hours of testing she would have to do. Trying to no distract her, I would ask her questions about the importance of doing both tests the same day, but that only made her more stressed out, and I realized I probably should have kept my mouth shut. Don't poke the bear, Jai.

But at least I did get clear answers once I stopped asking questions, and started googling things. A DNP program addresses the critical skill is needed to translate evidence-based care into practice, to improve systems of care, and to measure outcomes of groups of patients, populations, and communities. While it's not required for all advanced nursing jobs, a DNP can help you move into nurse leadership roles. Different from a PhD, which is necessary for teaching and research, a DNP can advance your career on the clinical side.

Yeah, holy shit. That was pretty heavy to read. I knew that she was going really hard in school, but damn, this was heavy. I remembered when we met that she had explained her program was combined and she was able to have both titles when she was done in a shorter period of time. My mind was still continuing to blow as I read more about the career that she was about to embark on, and I could see why she was stressing through the studying. So, as I spent time on my laptop just researching how fucking smart she was, I left her alone to her paperwork for a week. I made her dinner or got us good every evening, so that when she got home from work she didn't have to worry about it. I made her stop studying when the clock struck 11:30PM and she wasn't in bed yet. And then yesterday, like I said, I told her that she had to get herself a massage. She needed to relax. Otherwise, I let her anxious self, drown in her studies.

But today, it would all be over. She had called me when she left the testing center, a simple, I'm finished! Be home in 30! I wouldn't dare ask her how it went, but instead was waiting at home for her to tell me. Not that I am expecting any less than a, I passed!

The door opened quickly, and my queen walked inside, her eyes finding me laying on the couch, waiting for her. She set her bag and keys on the chair across from where I was, and with a smile, climbed on top and laid her body on me. I folded my arms around her waist, hers slightly curled around my neck, and she held her head up with a smile.

"I'm feeling pretty good. I think I passed," she semi-seriously chirped.

"Pretty good? Bullshit. I'm sure you nailed it," I responded.

She laughed.

"Yeah, I did feel confident with every question. I wasn't expecting that," she said as I saw the stress lift from her shoulders.

"Good. I'm glad it's over, and you don't have all that to worry about anymore."

"Yeah, now it will be worrying about my patients and the practice. And making sure that everything works out smoothly, and that everyone is happy in their positions, and that the patients are happy, and that we'll have enough patients, and-"
