Ayla

July 26th:

I quietly roll over and glance at my alarm clock.

3:34AM.

Dammit! I don't need to be up for another four hours. But I can't sleep. For the first time since last weeknd, I can't sleep. But, with good reason. Today we leave for a trip that I have no idea about. No idea where we're going, no idea what airline, how long the flight is. I don't even know if I have packed appropriately. Jai's only instructions were that I had swimsuits, and comfortable clothes. He said if I need anything else, we would buy it. That's all I got. No more details. Not even a hint about the weather. Oh yeah, and I know that it's out of the country.

So basically I have my passort and a suitcase full of clothes that I'm not even sure will be appropriate. But who am I kidding? The fact that it is a surprise makes it a hundred times more exciting. Which is why I can't sleep. All week I have slept like a rock, thanks to not having to worry about anxious study brain. I've probably gotten more sleep in six days than I have all year.

I turn my head, and look at Jai. He is softly snoring next to me, laying on his stomach, his head buried in the pillow and those heavy arms underneath it. My leg is flush against his below the blankets, and his hot flesh instantly brings me goosebumps.

Should I wake him up so he can lay here with me? Or should I let him sleep? Obviously the right thing to do is let him sleep. But I'm fighting the urge to wake him!

I sigh and flop my head down on the pillow and stare up at the ceiling. No use now, I am definitely awake for good. I grab my phone, making sure that my volume and brightness are turned down, and play some games.

Minutes pass, and I am now really involved in some Papa Pear. Excellent distraction.

"Can't sleep?" Jai mumbles, startling me and causing my phone to drop in my face.

"Ooh!" I jump. "Oh... Ow!"

I whine because the impact caused me to bite the inside of my cheek.

"Shit, Ayla, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you," Jai says with sincerity, but a hint of humor seeps through his voice.

I cover my face, where the phone hit, with my hand and pout.

"That really hurt," I stick my finger in my mouth and touch my cheek, pulling out a dab of blood. "I'm bleeding!"

I look at him with sad eyes, and I can see that he is about to bust out laughing.

"I'm sorry," he practically chokes out, fighting back giggles.

He leans over and kisses the side of my face, before I am able to protest his laughs.

"Are you okay?" He asks, lingering there.

This time, there is a slight hint of concern in his features, which now causes me to chuckle.

"Yeah, I'll live," I say right before pecking his lips.

I lean up, so that I prop myself on my elbow.

"So, I guess that's a yes then, that you can't sleep?" Jai asks, now in perfect view so I can see his fluffy bedhead..

"Yeah, sorry if I woke you."

"It's alright, I only just fell asleep not too long ago. 12:30 I think," I says with a yawn.

I noticed. His sleep habits have definitely changed a bit. I can tell that it takes him longer to fall asleep. It's been like that for a few weeks now. I haven't really been concerned about it because his mood hasn't changed, his temperament is the same, and he doesn't seem at all tired. I told myself a few days ago it was from the excitement of this trip, and the guilt of not telling me where we're going.
