October 11th:

"Holy shit mate, this is amazing! Congratulations!" Jordan announced when I had hand delivered our save-the-dates.

I was in Australia filming, and was luckily near my stomping ground, and was able to stay at my parent's place. I decided that instead of us mailing these cards to the fellas here, that I would give them to 'em myself. That includes me giving Jordan and Kolby a separate box, asking them to be my groomsmen.

"Dude, this is awesome!" Kolby came in for a hug.

"Thanks guys," I told them both.

I had asked them to meet me about thirty minutes earlier than Jarrod and Mark, so that I could ask them about being groomsmen, without the others being here. In the small boxes that I handed them, along with the save-the-dates, was a set of personalized cufflinks, with a note. The cufflinks were pretty excellent, and I was proud to have found the idea and to be able to show of my creative and sentimental side. Ayla cried when I told her that I was doing it. I totally scored major points for this one.

I knew that I would be getting cufflinks as my gifts, that was a no-brainer for me. But trying to find a design was a whole other story. While I was in New York a couple weeks ago, the first night I was all over the internet looking for ideas. Then I found a place where you could order personalized coordinates engraved on them. It was a perfect idea. I would need to order four pairs, each with two sets of coordinates. The coordinates that I chose? My childhood home address, and Ayla's. Luckily for us, our families still owned those homes, so it made it even more sentimental. I couldn't wait to surprise Ayla with this news when I came home from NY.

Like I said, she cried, like a baby when she found out. Then she admittedly became jealous, saying that she was stumped as to what to give her own bridesmaids for their 'asking' gifts. But then, I suggested doing the same thing for her girls, but obviously instead of cufflinks, doing subtle necklaces instead. Her happy tears continued to flow, and she threw her arms around me calling me a genius. I do admit, this was an excellent idea. I'm impressed with myself. The idea, of course, is for our bridal party to wear them during our wedding. So the next morning we went to a small local jewelry store, and Ayla took the reins from there. Four petit necklaces and four sets of cufflinks were ordered. Luckily we were told they would be done by the end of the week, so I was able to have two sets to take to Australia. And the end products? Beautiful. Each piece, both links and necklaces, about the size of my thumbnail and perfect.

Shit, we used this much thought for this gift, I can't imagine what we'll come up with for their actual gift before the wedding.

"So guys, these are for you," I handed Jordan and Kolby the small, ring-sized boxes.

Tossing me odd looks, they each opened them, at the same time, and shared a large grin.

"Of course. I'd be honored," Jordan responded, holding the tiny card that was resting on the links.

The card was simple and straight to the point. Groomsman, mate? Is what it read with small font.

"Absolutely bro, how could we say no?" Kolby added with an excited reaction.

"Great! So you guys ready to fly to the States?" I joked.

"Oh hell yeah! It's gonna be fun," Jordan said, wiggling his eyebrows looking between Kolby and I.

"Yeah, maybe we'll find some American girls," Kolby chimed.

We all laughed.

When Mark and Jarrod arrived I gave them the save-the-dates and received the same congratulatory response that I did from the others. I explained that I wanted them to play an important role in our wedding, being ushers. I want the four of them to spend that whole week leading up to our wedding, with us. Well, in a local hotel, but with us. Ayla loved that idea, and insisted that I go over this with my mates now, considering I probably won't see them again until we actually get married.
