Timeline: Corso and Nova are dating, and Nova has just finished all missions on the planet known as Voss.

I walked to the bridge, feeling mentally drained. The Voss were a strange people, and dealing with them for the past week or two really tested my patience. I would be relaxing in the lounge if I hadn't got a message from Corso saying he wanted to talk to me. Something must have happened with the computer's navisystem again; I really need to stop putting that repair off.

I stepped through the doorway, and looked at Corso, who was pacing. I raised an eyebrow. Corso has never paced before. Something was off.

"Corso? What's wrong? Are you ok?" I asked with concern. I started to move towards him, to offer him some comfort, but he turned and faced me, his eyes wide, probably because I startled him.

Once he realized it was me, the surprise was gone. The look in his eyes transformed into a look that... made my heart flutter and face warm. A look of unrestrained love. He took a step towards me. "No, nothing's wrong Nova, I just need to ask you something. I've been wanting to do it for a long time..."

My heart was beating so fast I couldn't differentiate between beats. That look in his eyes, the fact that he called me Nova instead of Captain... the feeling in the air. I have to actively remind myself to breath.

"I kept waiting until we got to safety, but I don't think we're getting there" on the last few words his voice wavered with emotion. Was it love or admiration? And then he...

My thoughts stopped. My heart stopped its frantic beating. I no longer knew how to breath. It was as if the world had been put in suspended animation.

Corso was kneeling on the ground in front of me.

If I hadn't seen his lips move, I wouldn't have believed my ears.

"Will you marry me, Nova?" His voice and eyes were a symphony of emotions; love played the melody while hope and worry were in the background.

Slowly, ever so slowly, I felt a smile spread across my face. My eyes became watery, and my heart struggled to beat underneath a mountain of joy.

"Corso, i'd be honored to have you as my husband." My voice wavered with its own music, the second movement, the response to the most beautiful question.

Corso grinned up at me, then stood, never taking his eyes off of mine. As soon as he was back on his feet I hugged him, held him close. I felt his hands wrap around my waist and hold me even closer. It was a wonderous feeling, holding him, yet being held at the same time. It was like a blanket; it shields against the cold, the worry, and leaves behind only warmth and love. It was a feeling I never wanted to lose.

"You have no idea how I sweated that one, Nova" his voice was filled with relief. I smiled wider and shook my head, nuzzling closer to him. He had worried for nothing. Of course I would marry him; to be seperated from him would be... no, I won't think of that now. This is a happy moment.

I don't know how long we stood there, holding each other, falling even more in love with each passing second. There wasn't a thought in my head that didn't start with his name.

"You know," Corso shifted and pulled away, letting go of me. I let my arms fall by my side, looking into his eyes curiously. I could detect the smallest of smirks on his face. "As ship's Captain, you are legally empowered by the Republic to perform wedding ceremonies on board your vessel"

I smiled, of course Corso would have looked into that first. He probabally remembered the one time, right after we had met, where I mentioned that I didn't understand why people would wait so long to marry after getting engaged. I can't believe he remebered that; it was years ago.

I took his hands in my own. "Do you, Corso, take me to be your lawfully wedded bride?"

I focused on his face, his expression more serious and loving than I have ever seen before. He was looking at me like I was his world, that I was something precious and delicate that he'd never let go. When he spoke, his voice was again a symphony, but this time the instrumentals sung a song of love in unison.

"I do. I swear to spend my life protecting your body, honoring your spirit, and respecting your mind" I could feel my eyes water with joy, my blush deepen further, and my smile widen with every word he spoke. I felt my love for him grow; it was a wonder my heart hadn't burst. Who am I kidding? It had burst. My love for Corso can't be contained; I loved him with every fiber of my being.

"My first and last goal of every day will be to bring a smile to your face" he paused, then brought his hand up to cup my cheek. I leaned my head into it and sighed happily. "like that one" he whispered.

I placed the hand he had let go onto his chest and stepped closer to him. I took a deep breath. "I accept you as my lawfully wedded husband, to love and to cherish until the day I die in your arms." My voice was so thick with emotion that I couldn't speak above a whisper.

Corso's eyes narrowed ever so slighty, and his voice took on a concerned tone. "May that day be a very, very long time away" I felt him let go of my hand and place it on my waist to close the last bit of distance between us. He left his other hand on my cheek. I laced my hands around his neck and stared deep into his loving eyes, which I couldn't look away from. Not that I wanted to. Then, so softly that I wasn't sure I had heard it, Corso said: "I love you, Nova".

And then he gave me a kiss so filled with love that it really did take my breath away.
