This is what I envision as the origin of Nova... something I've been spinning around in my head for awhile

"You prick! I never even wanted this.... abomination in the first place!"

Pain

"And you left me!"

Pain

"Well i'll leave her! See how you feel!"

Ground. Screaming. Hunger.

Seven years old

"Hey little brat, what are you doing here?" the intimidating Rhodian turned the corner and snarled at me.

"I'm hungry" I said simply, my hand still deep within the crate of food. Why was he asking me that? Wasn't it obvious?

"Ask me if I care." He said and pulled his blaster out at me, almost shooting my hand off and causing a surge of adrenaline to course though me.

I bolted around corners as the frightening man continued to chase me, screaming in a language I didn't understand, but it didn't sound too friendly.

This was the day I decided I must get myself a blaster. Obviously people weren't going to be kind to me. I had to learn to fend for myself.

Eight years old

I stepped carefully, clutching the blaster that I had acquired a little over 5 months ago. It wasn't easy to obtain one, unless you're small and sneaky enough to grab one that a sleeping Gamorrean left out.

I hissed lowly as the mutated rat-like animal I was hunting through the streets moved to another pile of trash, just out of range. I again began creeping up towards it, careful to avoid stepping on the pieces of trash that littered the alleyway. I just needed to get close enough to it to guarantee a head shot. I could probably hit my target from here, but I didn't want it alerted to my presence. It's claws were wickedly sharp.

I cursed as a blaster shot and a scream from a few blocks over caused the animal's head to shoot up and look around, its beady red eyes meeting with mine.  My screams joined the air as the monster lunged towards me and pain exploded across my eye. I desperately tried blinking away the blood as I shot blindly, lucky enough to hear a whimper and the thump of a body collapsing. I ran away, huffing, trying to stop the blood from running into my eye any further. I could feel the deepness of the cut as exhaustion took over me; it was going to be a scar for the rest of my life.

Ten years old

"Hand it over" I snarled, pointing the blaster at the rich man in front of me. He had enough money with him to feed everyone on this planet. He knew when his next meal was; I did not. That's what put him on the business end of my blaster.  "I don't want to hurt you, but I've got to eat. So do yourself a favor and give me the credits"

He simply laughed. "Me? Give something to a little squirt like you?"  He abruptly turned serious and pulled his blaster, aimed straight at my face. I simply blinked, unfazed.

I pulled the trigger, firing close enough to his ear to give him a burn from the heat. He jumped back, shocked that my aim was so good, and his tough guy facade was broken by a ten year old girl with a blaster. I got the credits and walked humming to the market to buy myself a good meal.

~Time Skip~

As I walked back to the hole in the wall that I called my home, with a bag full of cooked meat, I saw a family of Zabrak huddled together, crying.
