You can see a pic of Nova and Corso above. It's not the best, but you get the idea.
-----------------------------------------------------------

When Corso and I fight, it's clarity. My world is made up of flashy, sparkles, Corso, and... my target. Corso is standing strong by my side firing his blaster and throwing the occasional grenade. Flashy and sparkles fit like gloves in my hands, and I slowly move each blaster side to side, rapidly pulling the triggers to decimate my targets. The targets are the only thing that change; sometimes imperials, sometimes beasts. Today they are man eating bugs barely smart enough to hold blaster rifles. Killiks. But it doesn't matter what they are, my targets fall like flies, one by one. Then I flip on the safety, deactivate my protective shield, and continue on whatever mission Corso and I are on. It's simple, second nature, and the way things should go. It's the way things have always gone.

Until today.

The fight itself was normal enough, everything was the same, up until my last target fell. I was hooking flashy and sparkles onto my belt, and went to retrieve my protective shield from its spot on the ground. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw movement. As if in slow motion, I watched with horror as a chitin-covered hand shakily reach for its rifle. It took me longer than it should have to realize what was happening. Too close to the trigger, I thought with alarm. Its finger is...

I heard a thump that originated from next to me, watched as Corso stumbled backwards in my peripheral vision. Suddenly everything was red. How dare it. I whipped out flashy and shot the oversized cockroach straight between the eyes before I turned around and caught Corso before he fell. Thank the stars, he had been able to stand for a few seconds, otherwise i wouldn't have been able to catch him. Trying not to drop him, I looked around desperately for a place to hide; you can't exactly tend to a wound in the middle of a camp of giant bugs. I spotted a cluster of bushes surrounding a boulder. It would have to do.

I wasn't sure if he was breathing as I drug my unconscious boyfriend over to relative safety. I wasn't even sure that I was breathing. Please I pleaded, though I'm not sure who I was pleading with. Anyone, really. I didn't care. As long as he was safe, healthy. Don't take him from me. Almost at the bushes now. Almost safe.

I tripped over a rock in my desperation, nearly dropping Corso. "Son of a hutt" I hissed while clinging tight to Corso. He made a pained sound as I grasped tighter onto him. He's alive. That knowledge filled me with urgency. Regaining my footing, I quickened my pace, glaring at my mental image of the rock. I will come back and shoot you when I'm done. I promised it mentally.

When we finally reached the island of bushes, I used my foot in a futile effort to wipe away dirt and debris. I might as well have been trying to convince a hutt to donate to charity. Gingerly, I laid Corso down. I gasped as my heart decided to take a vacation from my chest to my throat. The killik had got him in the shoulder. Normally it wouldn't be too dangerous, as long as it was a gun that used particle beam technology; they simply transfer a large amount of energy into the body. It became popular a little after I was born. But this killik had received his rifle from someone who simply wasn't with the times. It was an old gun, a plasma beam gun. The kind of gun that burns the flesh. It had burned a hole straight through Corso's jacket, exposing the bright red flesh underneath.

I sat there, staring at the wound, eyes wide open and utterly stunned. I don't know how to fix this. I thought in horror. I felt moisture around my eyes and wiped it away, passively wondering when it started raining, actively wondering how to heal Corso. The panic inside me grew. No no no no no. I'm useless, I can't even heal a simple wound. I've never felt useless before, I've always had a plan, and the moment when I don't know what to do just HAD to be when Corso's life was on the line!

Dammit, I might as well try. Annoyed at myself for indulging in self pity and panic for so long, I grabbed a medkit from my pocket. Tearing it open I grabbed the kolto shot and gently injected the healing substance into Corso's upper arm. Then I unscrewed the cap from the healing cream and dipped two fingers into it. Ever so carefully I applied as even a coating as I could to the wound. This had better work.

Throwing the shot and the healing cream to the side, I reached into the medpack for the next item. My hands met air. "what the" I said as I turned it upside down and shook it. That's all they put in there? I stared indignantly at the now empty medpack. 450 credits for this? Corso's not even breathing and that's all... CORSO'S NOT EVEN BREATHING. "Corso!" I yelled, looking straight at his chest. Nope, definitely not moving. Crap crap crap. When did this happen? How long ago? Is he...

I shut that thought down as I grabbed onto Corso's arm, shaking it. "Please wake up! Please!" when did it start raining again? "Don't leave me, I need you!" it's really pouring. "It's not supposed to be like this!" I stopped shaking Corso, buried my face in my hands and sobbed. "please..." I whispered. I felt a darkness grip my heart, a darkness that prevented my ability to see any light, hear any sound, feel any emotion. I let it take my heart. I saw no reason to fight it.

"Captain? What's wrong?"

My head shot up and my breathing stopped. As I looked into his concerned eyes and saw his chest moving I felt tears run down my face and half laughed, half sobbed. The darkness that had come so close to consuming my heart slowly crept out, replaced with a light. A light that let me feel. A light that made me happy. A light that kept me going when times were tough. A light named Corso.

I smiled a teary-eyed smile and laid my hand on top of his. "Don't you ever do this to me again"
