Series Two, Episode Thirteen - At First Light Comes Eternal Life (July 19, 2013)

Walking the streets at dawn, surrounded by screams and chaos, Julie meets a disguised person in an alley. Entering an apartment, Sophia reveals herself, upon which they share talk of success in wiping out magic, and destroying the Asylum - saying that even the twins could not have survived. Brandishing the crystal of eternal life, Julie talks with Maya's mother of its use, as Sophia pricks her finger, dripping blood onto the crystal. As it glows with an intense white light, Julie grasps it, and the main drains into her. Commenting about "feeling good", the other woman stabs her with a kitchen knife, revealing that the wound simply closes itself up. Commenting also that they now have all they need to destroy Nickey, Arianna & Maya, they talk of them being the ones in the way of their goals. Mentioning a third crystal, the two agree that it will complete them. Parting ways, they talk of returning to work - as soon as Quinlan is dead.

Swarmed by press and informed of the extent of the damage; Charlie fiercely enters the council chambers. Delivering a heartfelt TV message, while too threatening the terrorists; Vera and Edmund watch from the house. Attempting to get to know each other; they talk of accomplishments and their lives, leaving Vera admitting that he seems very familiar. Called by Charlie, the three unite at the site of the ruined Somnium Asylum; all fires put out. Sifting through burnt bodies and rubble, Vera discovers a golden locket. Finding inside a small photo of a young Power, the three examine it further. Speaking of the horror of the explosion, Edmund declares that someone knew that it was going to happen. Upon returning home, the woman expresses to Charlie her fear through crying, talking of so many children dying, and her thankfulness of Nickey and Ari surviving. Bringing Edmund into the talk, the others watch as Charlie reiterates his stance on magic, stating that it will be everyone's doom.

Arriving to Torquebit, an unconscious Nickey and Arianna are quickly taken from the plane, with Juan, Maya and Mina close behind. Receiving news of their unknown ailment, the three spend time alone around the twins - discussing the cause and problem. As Juan speaks, he reveals knowledge of a small ring hidden in the Asylum which was to keep the Fertaine Powers alive. Not letting on any more, they are commanded to leave. Peering into the examination room, Mina comments that Juan should have brought the twins back and let everyone else help, to which he painfully agrees. Entering the town, the team find housing in a small refuge, giving them a place to think and discuss. Swearing that he will find some way to save them, Juan announces his plan to return to Aeternam to begin his search. Inspired, Maya offers to go instead; an offer universally accepted. Upon arrival to the airport, Maya is told of Torquebit being in a state of military lockdown. Horrified, Maya returns to town & faints.

Having been left alone for many hours, Darcy Jr. approaches Letitia and Stan. Declaring himself a terrible human, the others comfort him, and comment on his newfound conscience. Continuing to talk, the child admits that he is monster; now someone without love, or a goal. As Stan reveals news of the Asylum explosion, Darcy utters "I'm the only child who should've lost my life today." Leading them from the warehouse, the child hands the crystal to Letitia, as he sets the building on fire with a lighter. Asking if they'd still like to help him, both Letitia & Stan agree to assist the young child, as he announces his plan to find why the eternal life crystal did not work. Intending to return to Novus Somnium, the three drive from the Nocte Nebula warehouse - Stan taking them on the long, forest route.

Called to an immediate afternoon council meeting, Charlie is joined by Quinlan on the mayor's podium. Delivering his report as chief of police, the officer announces that the culprit will be caught - as an assassin shoots him in the forehead. Horrified even more, officers go after the gunman, who they find running in a purple cloak, though they do not catch him. Trying to calm the council down, Charlie talks of his responsibilities being above him, and walks from the chambers - confirming his resignation as Mayor of the City of Novus Somnium. Met by Vera & Edmund on his way out, the two congratulate him, as Aeternam's prime minister appears on the doorstep. Delivering his own report on the incident, Charlie shys away, as the PM inducts a new mayor into the role - revealing her to be his daughter, Tally Crand.

Lost with options as the country keeps her in, Maya discusses a plan with Mina & Juan in the hospital. Let out after a few tests, the three return to the hospital late at night - discovering Nickey and Arianna to be conscious, yet with their eyes open, which are glowing a bright white. Carrying them from the room in an escape procedure, Juan, Maya & Mina take them to a clearing in the forest. Knowing that they will soon stop Powering, on their eighteenth birthdays, Juan proposes hiding their living bodies somewhere, in a coffin like experience. Agree, they become permanent residents of Torquebit's capital city. Elsewhere, two young blonde children walk off a plane at the airport of an Aeternam city, Novus Somnium. Giving their names as Leah & Laurence Mendorne, twins aged eight, the counterwoman enquires further, to which they reveal that they are there to move with their uncle. As they leave, the twins are met by a man on his way from the city. Talking, he offers to take them to their uncle.

As they continue to drive through the forest, Darcy, Letitia and Stan are hit with an unexpected breakdown. Commenting on the eerie sounds, Darcy speaks with his mother of their plan, being without a way from the forest. The child walks into a fog, as a woman suddenly appears in front of him - as if out of thin air. Scaring the young boy with her physical appearance, she introduces herself as "The Mother". Telling Darcy of his crystal actually being the one of half-Powership, she too tells him of his place as one of few remaining "Dreamers" - not explaining the term. Commanding him to be closer to "their God", she tells him to go to Deus Spiralem. Ending her speech by saying that he must find 'The One on Fire', she says he must hide the crystal - killing Letitia and Stan before disappearing - leaving Darcy with no other options.
