Series Two, Episode Nine - Nature versus Nurture (June 21, 2013)

​August 12, 1989. Arriving to teenage summer camp, young Darcy Hedney immediately befriends many people through the challenges - including a young girl named Julie Crand. Sneaking out at night to see her, they discuss many things, and quickly fall in love. Using the one day meeting of the boy and girl camps as a date, they sneak off to a river bed, where they share their first kiss. Darcy and Julie talk of magic and their homes, and the teen girl offers to give him magic. Explaining her ability as a half-Power - someone born on a Half Day between 5 and 6pm, who can link with one person to eternally power them - the two perform the ceremony. Continuing their relationship, the camp comes to an eventual end - breaking both their hearts. Tormented at school for his body and lowly home; Darcy finds respite in a letter from Julie. As they meet up one last time, they kiss - both agreeing they can't be together. Parting ways, Darcy practices his magic - realising the bond strains him.

​As Mina takes Kara shopping, Charlie and Edmund invite over Maya - quickly expressing their fears, and showing her 'Kara's true love'. Discussing how it may have occurred, the three agree on the principle of coincidence, and Kara's ignorance towards his identity. Upon Kara and Mina's return, the Pop Princess is informed - as she takes it upon herself to explain to the young Power. Angry of her dreams being crushed, the young girl sneaks out as Mina exits. Walking to the oak tree which remained a focus of her dream, Kara is approached by Stan. Noticing the anti-magic bracelet, he enquires - discussion revealing her dream, and his ability to deliver her to Darcy Jr. - to which she agrees. Elsewhere, Maya and Mina work actively upon discovery of Kara's disappearance. Coming across Vera, she plays it off as an escape from Darcy. Returning to the home, the others express their relief. Explaining, Vera warns that they must find Kara before Darcy does.

​April 21, 2000. Sharing conversation at home with a scarred Vera on their second anniversary of dating, she and Darcy talk of love and magic. Taking a night time walk, they continue talking of the future - as she reveals she wants "a child to keep". Instructing Vera to return home, Darcy is led away by a mysterious noise - as he is attacked by a masked man. Taken to an alley, the man reveals himself as Julie. Talking harshly of the years gone by, he expresses his feelings towards her apparent insanity. Bringing up his relationship with Vera, she shows her jealousy - threatening to break the bond and kill him. The woman continues to push him - forcing him to agree to date her cousin, Letitia - who she reveals has only been recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. Arriving home to love and many questions, he calmly dumps Vera - to her sadness. Meeting Letitia Cyrus only a day later, he quickly falls for her. Watched by Vera, she speaks to herself of her anger and jealousy - as he gives Letitia everything that she had never gotten from him.

​Vera, rushing to return to Darcy, arrives back to an excited enquiry into her crystal progress. Informing him of the issue, the doctor freaks out. Discussing an action plan, the two agree for Darcy to pay a visit to his son. Revealing a feeling of guilt exactly twelve years on, Darcy attempts to talk to Vera about the breakup - as she talks of learning the circumstances from a mutual friend many years later, and her forgiveness. Kissing her slightly, he apologises and Vera hesitates, talking of her returning feelings for Charlie "despite everything". Returning to Vera's home to collaborate plans with the others, Darcy proposes visiting the child - which Charlie rejects. Counter-offering to go himself, he asks Vera and Maya to accompany him. Discussing the risks, they go regardless - led with directions from Darcy to their base.

​May 13, 2009. Entering an orphanage, Vera is met by the caretaker - Julie Crand. Talking of their lives, and their old friendship, the still-scarred Vera is taken through to a room. Welcomed by a young boy, Darcy Jr., the two are left alone. Talking of events in their lives, and their fifth year of friendship, Vera compliments his intelligence, to which he replies "you must have said that a thousand times." The two walk the city streets - Vera's face concealed by her mask. Visiting the harbourside, the woman hands Darcy a small present - which he opens to find a pocket encyclopaedia. Discussing the importance of his grand knowledge on the walk back, Vera is kept out by Julie. As Darcy runs in, the two women talk of Darcy Sr. Julie tells the story behind the breaking - angering Vera, as she storms off.

​Brought before Darcy in the roof of a building, Kara silently expresses her excitement. As the bag covering her head is lifted, Darcy Jr and Kara embrace the sight of each other. With only the words "for so long I've dreamt of you", he kisses her and raises her. Talking of his ambitions of eternal life, with the Sunlight Society adding their own comments, Kara seems blinded by love - agreeing to assist Darcy. Elsewhere, Charlie, Vera and Maya break into Darcy's warehouse with little effort - discovering it to be entirely empty. Horrified, the three converse, discussing how he must've known, as they return to the house. Informing Mina and Edmund of the results, Vera too calls Darcy Sr. - much to Charlie's jealousy. As Mina locks herself in her room, Edmund sneaks in, attempting to comfort her. Talking to him of letting Julien down and losing her, she cries in his arms - saying Darcy Jr. will meet his end by her bullet in his head.

​October 23, 2013. Met by a mysterious trenchcoat man, Julie discusses with him the residents of the orphanage. Taken through the rooms, he approaches Darcy - intrigued by him. Introducing himself as William; the two talk softly with Julie in the room. Using her fear of him, young Darcy forces her from the room. Getting into a serious talk, the child unveils his deduction that William deliberately came looking for him - to which he admits. Revealing the eternal life crystal, William reveals his true name as Wicked, and speaks of the Society, and the crystal's use. Talking more, Darcy Jr. brings his relationship with Vera to light. Agreeing to take over Wicked's "Sunlight Society" - Darcy tells him it will be his front to hind the girl whom his true love appears as in his dreams.

2.10 - The Bandana Man

Needing to retrieve the half-Power crystal and stop the explosion, Juan enlists Nickey and Ari. With Kara missing, Mina and Maya choose to go after the Powers, which Darcy Jr. and Sr. contemplate their roles in a bigger story.
