Series Two, Episode Five - The First Birthday (May 24, 2013)

​Having spent weeks hiding out, using his lowly magic the heal himself, Darcy Senior pays a visit to Letitia. Driving with her as he catches her on the way out the door, the two share more conversation about the Sunlight Society. Revealing the mark saved her from a terminal illness, she offers to get him in contact with their leader, to which he refuses. Upon their arrival to Cityscape, they are greeted by Stan, who takes Darcy for one of them. As they talk more, he informs Letitia that the school fair is Vera's bait, and sabotaged, as their leader would've informed her where Ari is. As Darcy enquires further, Letitia notes she now knows that their leader is their son. Captured from behind by a masked figure on his way out, the doctor's magic is nullified - as his kidnappers take him from the city.

​Learning of the Cityscape Fair on the radio, Nickey and Kara make preparations. Venturing in on the bus, they talk of finding Arianna, and Kara expresses her excitement. Met by sights of their first carnival, the two play games while inconspicuously searching. Elsewhere, Maya, Mina and Julien decide to investigate Letitia upon arrival to the fair. By chance, the Powers meet up with the three, inciting a tearful reunion and meeting. Searching the fair, they come across no signs of Letitia or Ari, as Maya reveals her disappearance. Inviting Nickey and Kara back to their office, Maya receives a sudden email from her Aunt Vera - speaking of seeing her at the fair. As she replies with the news of Nickey, Vera expresses a wish to meet him, providing an address. Offered caution, the Power accepts, him saying she may be able to help find Ari.

​Arriving to Decorus Luna after taking the long route, the man with the bandana meets with two similarly masked contacts in an abandoned store. Referring to himself as Red, the man talks of the Sunlight Society and of young Darcy not knowing the power he holds in the crystal. As they work with a computer, the others, Blue and White, enquire into Red's preparation as he confirms he is ready to destroy Aeternam's magic. Moving out of the story and towards the council chambers, Red meets with the Mayor of Decorus Luna, Chris Vallacy. He introduces himself as Juan Carlone, a secret operative. The two talk of the inner workings of The Black Bannermen, who wish to eradicate magic and obliterate the Asylum. Confirming the existence of a 'Sunlight Society' with the aim of eternal life, the mayor asks him to organise an anti-operation.

​As they discuss memory restoration, Charlie and Edmund share bonding time. Talking to Brianna, Charlie reveals that Vera did not kidnap her, yet she does not calm down. Edmund and Charlie talk a walk outside with the Power, and the mayor asks how Edmund and Vera came to be allies, though he is unwilling to provide information. Returning to Vera's hoe, Brianna asks for presents from the men - revealing it is her seventeenth birthday. Upon Vera's return, Edmund relays this information to her; the witch confirms inviting Nickey on the date is intentional - Vera wanting it to be a birthday present. As Nickey knocks on the door, Charlie holds Vera's hand, saying "It's all or nothing now."

​Being woken in an abandoned store, Darcy meets his kidnappers - Blue and White. The two discuss the man's magic - telling him that they are 'half-Powers'. Suddenly, as he enquires further, the store goes up in flames, as the half-Powers leave him to fend for himself. Rescued and brought onto the street, his saviour reveals himself as a child - young Darcy. The two argue over their identical naming, as older Darcy notices a mark on the boy - and voices the idea that they are father and son. Attempting to share a bonding moment, Darcy Jr. asks him to assist the Sunlight Society, brandishing the crystal. He agrees, on the grounds of a mark-less alliance, as they venture back on Darcy Jr.'s motorbike.

​Invited into Vera's home, Nickey confesses an awkward atmosphere as he is reunited with his parents. As he meets Edmund and is wished a happy birthday, they talk, and both remember the robbery of the café. The now-older Power talks of his time in the Asylum and of Arianna. He continues to express his horror at her disappearance, as Vera reveals her memory loss at Darcy Sr.'s hand. Taking his hand, Vera leads him down to the basement where he locks eyes with Ari. Only saying one word, she says his name, as they are brought together. Apologising to Edmund and her parents, Ari reveals that the spell never worked - she played along to ensure her safety until Nickey had found her. As Vera reveals more of the Sunlight Society to the Powers, Ari speaks of hearing the name once before. Nickey takes Ari, as the teen tells her mother she heard it from Darcy Hedney Junior.

​Taking Kara for her first girls' day out, Maya and Mina bond with Julien's younger sister. Buying dresses before hot chocolate, they discuss her life inside the Asylum, and Maya compares it to her own experience. Upon their leave, the pop princess is swarmed by fans, keeping them from leaving for a number of minutes, yet meeting them up with Arianna and Nickey. Delaying even further with introductions, Maya buys the twins matching scarves for their birthday. Walking back towards the office in the rain, arms locked, they watch as a hooded man runs from the apartment building. Entering the office, the five are met with the sudden sight of a ransacked place. As they enter the back room, Kara is horrified by the look of a bloodied - and dead - Julien Anomara.

2.06 - A Second Crystal Uncovered

While Operation Winter begins for Juan, Nickey and the others take steps to find Julien's killer. As Charlie and Edmund learn of the Sunlight Society's goal, they rush to rescue Vera - fearing her meeting with Darcy may be a trap.
