Series Two, Episode Twelve - Winter Is Coming (July 12, 2013)

​Attempting to keep calm at the airport lounge, Nickey discusses with Juan the situation. Revealing his identity as secret operative Juan Carlone; he talks of a need to be within a country not devoid of magic. Struggling, they acknowledge that the only such countries are war torn. Taking a walk outside with Maya, Ari cries in her cousin's arms, as they both speak of immense fears. Inside, Mina speaks to Juan of her friendship with Chris from childhood. Agitated, the Bandana Man attempts to make contact with Julie to avail. Returning to discuss the situation as a group, Maya's comment about the near-empty syringes prompts fear in Juan - driving him to walk away, teary eyed. Wanting to return to Novus Somnium, the other four attempt to leave. Stopping them, Juan reveals tickets to a small country named Torquebit. Hurrying them to the gate, he ignores cries of their annoyance.

​June 26, 1999. Enjoying a day at the arcade, teenager Juan Carlone meets up with two friends, Martin & Gophren, in the early hours of the night. Donning red, blue and white bandanas, the three go on a crime spree - breaking into houses and vandalising. Arriving home, Juan is treated the next morning to television news of a small crime gang. Knowing his escaping of punishment, he enters school. Discovering both Blue and White to have been arrested, he turns himself over to the police. Let off with a warning and charges, White compels the others to go for one more night as the 'Black Bannermen'. Robbing a museum, the three encounter a crystal, labelled 'The Crystal of half-", with the remainder scratched off. Taking it, they make their escape, both from the museum - and Nocte Nebula. Sensing its magical properties, Blue speaks of their goal to discover its purpose. Hands stacked, the three agree - each laying a hand on the half-Power crystal.

​The mayor awkwardly returning to Vera's home days later; Edmund attempts to discuss the kiss with Charlie. As they speak, Vera appears. Asking Edmund to leave them, Vera questions her ex, as both admit to their love for one another. Sharing another kiss, they too question their workability as a couple. Vera leaves the home, headed towards Cityscape for a final time. Confronting Noah, he reveals knowledge of Darcy's waiting promise to Kara and of the day being their last to stop him. Walking the streets and discussing a plan, Noah corners Vera in an alley. He removes his glove to reveal a mark of the Sunlight Society. As Vera proclaims that he is one of them, shocked, Noah drives his mark into her. Pulled from behind by Charlie, the sudden magical rebound kills Noah; Vera left barely alive. Using limited medical application to save her, Vera asks if the children were born safely, holding Charlie - having no memory of Edmund.

​Having boarded the plane, Juan and Nickey become anxious as a six hour delay is revealed - prompting a 4.55am take off, and a 5am sunrise noted. Deciding to remain on the plane; Juan makes a point of warning them that the explosion is oncoming. Holding his sister, Nickey tells Ari that he will always keep her safe, as she too shows anxiety. Attempting to calm her fear of flight, Mina discusses with Maya the rustic locale of Torquebit, and her time there as a child. Asked to leave the aircraft, the five wait together in the Gate Lounge. As Juan constantly inspects his watch, Maya notices his habit and enquires. Vocalising his fears, Juan fearfully ends his explanation with the words "...and I know that winter is coming."

​Telling Vera of her seventeen years in a coma, Charlie talks of his place as mayor, and changes. Enquiring about the twins, the mayor reveals their escape, to which she notes that they may take after her. After monitoring Vera's brain, Edmund and Charlie consult in another room. Revealing his ability to have Nickey or Arianna magically aid him in restoring her memory, both note the improvement that the 'old' Vera may be, over the scheming manipulator they lost. Placing a copy of Vera's ring on her as she sleeps, Charlie holds his 'wife'. Using a text message to Maya to explain the situation, Edmund begs her to quickly return. As the five at the airport read it, Juan notes that they are too late to turn back now.

​February 3, 2015. Armed with the half-Power crystal and White's orders, Juan arrives to Novus Somnium in search of Darcy's eternal life crystal. Only led to places of magical interference, Juan is brought to an apartment, where he meets a woman named Julie Crand. Searching together, he marks on a map the presence of a magic store, as they arrive there by night. Led to the outskirts of the city and a warehouse, they break inside, and Juan & Julie discover an emanating wall of glyphs - and next to it, the crystal. Quickly weighing options, he decides to switch the crystals. Confronted by Darcy, the Bandana Man and the woman manage to escape after stern words and a minor argument. Exchanging numbers and parting ways with Julie, Juan heads towards the magic shop. He watches Stan - paying close attention to the glowing mark on his hand.

​As Juan's plane takes off, Darcy Jr. speaks to Kara of her "friend's" time being up. Gathering the Sunlight Society, including Letitia and Stan, around himself and the girl, he talks to them of their role as a group in the bigger scheme of things. Revealing an ability to use the darkest of magical powers, Darcy slays all in the room, save for himself, Kara, Letitia and Stan. Placing the crystal on the floor in the middle of them, he notes that first light is here. Dripping the blood, the crystal glows an immense white light. As a freight plane flies over the Asylum, Darcy tells Kara that she may be first - which she accepts. Grabbing the crystal, Kara is infused with death as the crystal glows black. Elsewhere, Novus Somnium is horrifically shaken as a bomb drops; destroying the Somnium Asylum, and killing all in its vicinity.

2.13 - At First Light Comes Eternal Life

With the Asylum gone, Kara dead and the twins out of Aeternam, magic falls still in Novus Somnium. While Nickey & Ari suffer an unknown ailment, Darcy sets out in search of a way to truly use the crystal. Faced with the horror of the explosion, Charlie struggles with his role - as a truer villain shows themselves in the second series finale of Somnium.
