Chapter 1

TAYLOR P. O. V.

I heard the annoying sound of my alarm blaring into my ears. No, I'm not ready to go to school. Ugh. School is too much work. Maybe if I just close my eyes- yeah. That's better. I won't fall asleep again, I told myself, I just like my eyes closed. After what only felt like a matter of seconds, my mom entered my room.

"Taylor, it's time to wake up."

"No it isn't."

"Taylor Danielle," She starts, trying to be intimidating.

"How 'bout 10 more minutes?" I muttered.

"You're so lazy. Get out of bed, now."

My eyes slowly and groggily open. I sit up slowly, and glare at my mom. She smiles and my attitude drops at her happy demeanor.

"I'm making breakfast, what do you want?"

I shrug, and stand up from the bed that was previously keeping me cozy.

"Eggs and bacon it is." She states, and walks out.

I raise my arms way above my head, stretching out my body. Sighing, I groan and take my phone off of the nightstand next to my bed. Unlocking it, no new messages are visible so I click onto the music app and make my way to my bathroom. The white walls are blinding and the blue tiled floor is cold. Give me Love by Ed Sheeran started playing, and I set my phone into my doc and turned up the volumn a bit. I undressed and entered my morning shower.

Feeling the almost boiling water on my skin slowly brings my body back to life. The tension leaves me in waves and I sigh in content. After scrubbing myself clean with all coconut scents, I stop the water and stepped out to wrap myself into a pink and fluffy towel.

White jean shorts and a black t-shirt that had 'The Script' written across it, ended up being my outfit. Like always, I rolled up the sleeves, even though it was already a short sleeved shirt. I put on my bracelets, some threaded some rubber but all meaningful, and slipped on my black converse. Letting my hair loose from the towel, I let it air dry to its natural wavy self. I had to admit; my hair was the best to work with. I inherited my mom's dark locks and soft waves. The only bad part is the combing out, because my hair is starting to get increasingly long, reaching just above my waist.

Feeling my stomach rumble in hunger, I grabbed my backpack and took it downstairs with me, to find my mom placing my plate on the table.

"Thanks mom" I said, not even sitting down before taking a huge bite into the cheese and bacon omelette. She hummed in response, and sat next to me with her plate of food.

"Is dad already at the restaurant?" I asked.

"Yeah."

My dad was the owner of Jake's Burgers. My great-grandfather started the business, then passed it down to my grandfather, then passed it down to my dad when we moved here four years ago. When my dad retires, it will be all mine. I loved cooking, but I was only seventeen and I have to wait until I turn eighteen to be a chef at the place. At the moment, I'm just a cashier. I work there after school every other day. The days I don't work, my cousin, Alice, works.

I unlocked my phone to check the time. It was 7:03. I shoved the rest of the omelette down my throat and took the bottle of Sunny D with me.

"Bye mom," I said through a mouthful. Giving her a quick peck on the cheek, I grabbed my keys and my backpack and my Sunny D and I was out the door.

"TAYLOR!"

My head whipped around from my locker to only get a glimpse of Lauren before she tackled me into a bear hug.
