Chapter 2

ZACH'S P. O. V.

I don't even know what's going on right now. My mind is flooding with images of her innocent chocolate brown eyes, her waist-long wavy brown hair, the way her nose crinkles a bit when she laughs, the way her hips wiggle gently when she walks, everything. Taylor completely invades my thoughts as I'm trying to concentrate on this pitch. My face being partly hidden from my glove, I take the baseball and bring it up to my lips. It still tingles from when she pinched my lips earlier today at lunch. Some weird ass feeling in my stomach caught me off gaurd. That's why I had to leave at lunch; I was almost afraid what would happen if I stayed.

To clarify, I do have a somewhat thing for Taylor. I always have. Since the first day I saw her freshman year. But she wouldn't date me because she describes me as a 'man-whore'. I'm not too upset over it, since I'd rather have girls lined up for me rather than stick to one. I mean, wouldn't it get boring? Shaking my head gently to clear it, I use all my force to whip my arm forward, releasing the ball. Perfect pitch. Just like all the other pitches I throw.

"Great pitch Zach! Okay, that ends practice. Do not forget practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and our championship next Saturday! We-" Coach Daniels words were drowned out with our yelling. We were all excited for the championship. Going through the season with these kids for four years, they're more like brothers to me than teammates. With the smile still on my face, I headed to the dugout to grab my baseball bag.

"Yo Zach!"

I turned around to see my best friend, Blake, heading towards me. His position is my catcher, and I've known this kid since we were in diapers. We tried out together in middle school for the baseball team and somehow we got through together, and it stuck with us ever since.

"What's up?" I said.

"I uh," he scratches the back of his head, "can't go out tonight because me and Lauren are going out somewhere and-"

I groan and cut him off, "Yeah, yeah."

"I really wanted to go to the restaurant but Lauren has cramps-"

"And you're totally whipped. Yes, I know all of this." I smirked and he rolled his eyes at me and smiled back.

"I'm not gonna deny it. I'll see you around my guy," he says, already turning around to walk towards his car.

It was kind of our thing to go eat something after every practice, with the occasional ditch from him because his girlfriend. This is exactly what I mean. I don't have a problem with Lauren, but I would hate for my friendships to suffer because of spending time with a girl. I'll keep my commitment on relationships on the back burner until ten years from now.

Walking down the hill to the parking lot, I searched for my silver 2010 Malibu. Once I found it, I took my keys out of my bag and unlocked my doors. When I sat down and finally relaxed for the day, I realized how hungry and tired I was. I didn't really eat any lunch. I started my way to Jake's Burgers alone anyway, because I did tell Taylor I was coming by.

After five short minutes, I was parking the car in front of Jake's Burgers. From the window, I could already see Taylor behind the counter. Getting out and walking to the entrance, I pushed open the glass doors, hearing a 'ding' as I walked in. I took a deep breath in, inhaling the scent of fresh burgers grilling.

Taylor looked up at the sound of someone entering, and gave me a small smile while accepting the cash from the young girl in front of me. When she moved, I leaned forward with my hands on the counter.

"Hey baby girl."

TAYLOR'S P. O. V.

My heart did a little flutter at his voice. He seems to be in a better mood from lunch.
