Chapter 16
TAYLOR'S P. O. V.
"Lauren, what do I even wear? This is one of the many reasons I hate parties." I groan, switching the phone from my left hand to my right hand, flipping to lay on my back on my bed.
"Look, I'll come over in like, twenty minutes. I'll pick out your outfit. But I'm starving so you have to make some food."
I laugh. "What do you want to eat?"
"Hmmm," I could imagine her tapping her finger on her chin, pretending to be deep in thought, "How about Chicken Alfredo?"
I groaned. "As good as that sounds, I'm out of noodles." I add absentmindedly, "My parents have to go grocery shopping."
"Alright, what do you have?" I heard the tint of disappointment in her voice. She doesn't like being told no. Just like Zach.
A brilliant but simple idea came to mind. "I know how to make the stuffed burgers that we have in the restaurant."
She gasped. "The ones with bacon and cheese?"
I swung my legs of the side of my bed and stood up. "Yeah, I'll even throw in the disgusting mushrooms you like." I inwardly gagged. I hate mushrooms.
"Okay! I'll be over in twenty."
"Okay. Bye." I said, smiling. She hung up and I walked down the steps into my kitchen.
Taking out the ground beef, shredded cheese, bacon bits, and mushrooms, my phone rang.
"Hello?" I answered, balancing the phone between my shoulder and my ear while washing my hands.
"Do- do you think you can make an extra burger for Blake?" She sounded extremely breathless, and the way she said Blake it sounded more like a moan. Oh God, I really don't want to know what they were doing.
"Yeah I, I'll just-" I heard the three beeps that signaled the end of a phone call. I dried my hands with a towel and took the phone back on my hand. She hung up on me.
Shoving my phone in my pocket, I took out a big bowl to mix the ground beef. I mixed everything with my hands, and ended up making 5 burgers. I'm going to end up eating two, Lauren's going to eat only one, and Blake definitely could eat two. I made the shape of the patties, and made sure to not add mushroom to two of them, and placed them on the stovetop grill.
I washed my hands to get rid of the ground beef residue. I plugged in the fryer and took a handful of fries, set them in the basket, and put it in the fryer.
I was just taking out the patties and putting them on buns when the front door opened.
"I'm home, sweetcheeks!"
"Kitchen!" I yelled to Lauren.
I took the plate of fries and burgers and set them in the table along with all the fixings. As soon as I saw Lauren and Blake, I knew exactly what they were doing when I called. Her hair was badly combed and her shirt was still a little hitched up. Blake just had a smirk on his face.
"Are you wearing Zach's sweat shirt again?" She threw her navy and pink vera bradley bag on the table.
"Go put that in my room." I say, purposely avoiding her question and hiding my blush. She nods, also sending me a quick wink, and quickly ran upstairs and back while I take plates out to eat. We sat down in the dining room. To be honest, it was a little awkward without Zach.
"So what were you thinking of wearing?" Lauren asked, clearly not interested because her eyes kept flicking to Blake.
"Not sure. You have to look through my stuff." I reminded her, while shoving some fries in my mouth.
