Chapter 31.
TAYLOR'S P. O. V.
I lean against my locker, while Lauren continues on about "she told me so".
"I knew you guys would date, I so called it. You guys are the cutest thing together, I ship it so much."
I roll my eyes while smiling and shove her shoulder. "Shut up, will you?"
"How can I? That is the cutest way to ask you out because it wasn't the clichè 'will you be my girlfriend' and its just, ugh." Lauren rambles, leaning against the locker next to mine, "I'm surprised he didn't drive you to school today."
I was a little disappointed when he didn't ask if I wanted a ride today, but we just started dating and I don't want to seem clingy. "I'm surprised you didn't come with Blake today," I shot back.
Her smile fades, "About that," her head falls down and she begins to play with her fingers.
"What's wrong?" I ask with genuine concern.
She rolls her eyes, "I just don't know what's going on with us. He's barely over anymore. When we went to your house Saturday was the first time we hung out in a while."
"Really?" Now that she's mentioned it, I realize that in school they have been less coupley. "I doubt it's anything bad, I think it's just that you guys are out of your honeymoon stage."
She sighs, nodding. "Yeah, I guess."
I send her a reassuring smile. Her eyes focus on something behind me and before I know it, there are two hands pressed against the lockers on either side of me, caging me. I look up and see my... boyfriend.
"Hi," he says quietly with a blinding smile. He's wearing a white long sleeved shirt with the Abercrombie symbol on the right side of his chest and jeans. The mark on his neck is still there and he wears it proudly. He leans down and kisses my lips so softly and so gently that it makes my toes curl. I want to kiss him longer, just to prove to every one watching us that he's mine now, but he pulls away too quick.
"Hey," I whisper back, already breathless.
Zach looks so, happy. His eyes are brighter and his smile is deeper. It's hard to believe one little "I'll date you" from me can do that to him.
"Listen, I wanted to drive you today but I woke up a little late," he tells me, not moving his position.
I laugh. "Maybe because you kept texting me random things until three in the morning."
His eyes stay fixated on my mouth when he replies with, "I wasn't even tired and you were ignoring me." A piece of hair falls down into his eyes and his brows furrow. I reach up and comb it back into his quiff without hesitation. Everything is so much easier now. I don't have to hold back any urges anymore.
"Ignoring you and falling asleep are not the same thing."
He buries his face into my neck, laughing. A shiver rakes through my body as his lips brush against my neck, saying, "Kidding." He lightly kisses my faded bruise on the nape of my neck and I smile.
A throat clears next to us. "Still here." Lauren states.
Zach laughs into my shoulder and we both stand up straight, him still keeping an around my waist.
***
By the end of third period English, almost everyone knows about me and Zach. That kiss this morning seems to be the center of discussion throughout the school. These people really don't know how to mind their own business, but as long as they know he's taken now, I'm okay with it. Once the news got around to his baseball friends, they teased him nonstop. Even with the teasing, he doesn't seem to have a problem with showing his affection. He's always touching me in some way, even in class with his knee pressed against mine. I don't mind it at all, but this is all so new to me.
