Chapter 18
TAYLOR'S P. O. V.
Even though I knew what she said, I still couldn't believe it. "You're what?"
"I know, I couldn't believe it myself. But I'm not that old to have more kids. Well, I'm only 33. You were a teenage baby, I was only fifteen when I had you." She smiled a little, and I couldn't help but smile back.
"Mom, you're freaking pregnant."
"Jen, you're freaking pregnant." Lauren said.
"I'm freaking pregnant." my mom repeated.
We all looked at each other in silence for a minute. My 33 year old mom is going to have a little one. Wouldn't you think that me, being the teenager, would be going through this instead of my mom?
"So, you wanted to go to the store to get, what exactly?"
My mom shoved some more pancakes covered in pickle in her mouth, while Lauren pushed her own plate away. "Stuff for the baby."
"How many weeks are you?" Lauren asked. I was wondering the same thing.
"About three or four weeks."
"Does Dad know?" I ask.
"Obviously, if he's the one who got the pregnancy tests." Lauren shoots out.
"Oh, yeah." I mumbled weakly. And of course, Zach just had to invade my thoughts, making me want to run over to his house and tell him the big news.
"I can't believe it," I muttered, walking to my mom, who was still seated at the bar. I placed my hand gently on her stomach, with no indication of a bump at the slightest. "There's a human growing in there. My baby brother or sister..." The words brother and sister sound foreign on my tongue.
My mom stands with her empty plate, just as my hands leave her stomach. She walks and places it in the sink before turning around to face me and Lauren. "So what happened last night?" She asked raising an eyebrow. Lauren turns to face me with a puzzled expression.
Shit. I didn't think she would remember.
I stupidly ask, "What do you mean?"
She smiled, "Last night. You were all pissy."
"Well," I took a deep breath and shook my head. "To put it short, a lot happened, and I don't know what to do."
My mom nodded, and said, "Let's go to the living room."
I agreed and followed her and Lauren to the living room. She sat down on the rocking chair, Lauren sat on the love seat and I sat next to her. They both faced me, and I quickly grabbed the throw pillow that was on the couch and hugged it close to my body.
I hid my face in the pillow. "So do you guys know Bentley? He was at-"
"No, take your face away from the pillow and speak up."
I slowly looked up and sent a small glare to my mom's direction. I took a deep breath and focused on the necklace that Lauren was wearing, the one that matched the one she got me.
"So do you guys know Bentley?"
Lauren nodded while my mom sat in confusion. "Well, he's this new kid, he's nice, but a little weird and I think he likes me."
"Skip the chit-chat, get to the point." Lauren mumbled. I nodded nervously, took one last deep breath, and talked.
"Last night, I went to Zach's house for his birthday sort of thing. I got there and Lauren left me to go do something with Blake." Lauren changed her slouched position, and sat up straighter folding her hands on her lap. "I didn't know what to do, so I went to go sit on the couch, and Zach shows up." I could feel my cheeks heating just by the mention of him. My mom furrows her eyebrows and nodded for me to continue.
