Chapter 5

TAYLOR'S P. O. V.

"So that's what happened. Please don't be mad."

Zach's face contorted into digust.

"I'm not mad," he said. A wash of relief settled over me, until he continued. "I'm digusted. How can you be that weak, and stupid?"

I stopped breathing. "W-what?"

He put on his natural smirk, but the glint in his eye told me it was evil. "You think you can just tell me about your life and think I'm gonna be okay with that?" He scoffed. "Please. I don't want anything to do with you, slut."

I couldn't speak. I just told Zach all about my past, and he hates me now. I can't believe it. I should've kept my mouth shut.

"Forget about me. I'm never going to see you again." And with that, he left my bedroom.

"Zach!" I cried out. "Zach please!" I tried to get up on the bed I was laying on but I was restrained, something kept my wrists down. My body wouldn't move. "Come back! Zach!" I screamed and yelled, but he didn't come back. He left. He's gone.

ZACH'S P. O. V.

I watched her in the nurse's office laying there. She looked- well, she looked dead. Pale. Dark eye bags. Small. Limp. I was scared. She wasn't even moving. I already missed the rest of second period and third period is halfway over. The nurse told me to leave, but there was no way I was getting up from this seat.

I felt a vibration in my back pocket, snapping me out of my thoughts. My phone. I slipped it out and looked who texted. Lauren?

Lauren: Where the hell are you and Taylor?!

Oh. Right. It must've looked bad that I ran out to follow Taylor out in second period, and we both haven't shown up the third period English.

Zach: Nurse's office

A few seconds later, my phone vibrated again.

Lauren: WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO HER. YOU LITTLE BITCH.

I smirked. Typical Lauren.

Zach: Relax. She passed out earlier. Come when third period ends.

I turned my phone on silent, in case she decided a to blow up my phone with a million different texts. I heard rustling noises, and as I looked up, Taylor was moving.

Her back was lightly arched, and it looked like she was breathing heavily. I stayed still until I heard her say my name.

"Zach" she mumbled. Her chest was heaving up and down as if she just ran a marathon. Her eyes were still closed.

"Zach please." She said with more force. I stood up and rushed to her side. I think she's having a nightmare. Why is it about me? Her hands started twitching, as if she's trying to move. I grabbed her wrist gently, but she only thrusts her arms around more.

"Come back! Zach!" She shot up into sitting position, her breathing uneven. She looked around, and stopped when she looked at me. Her eyes closed, and she tried to catch her breath. When they open again, she looks around and realizes where she is. She stands up from the bed, quicker than I expected. I reach my arm out to help her catch her footing, but the next thing I know is that, she's hugging me?

"Zach, you're here." She managed to speak. Her arms around my neck made me notice that my arms were still at my sides. I wrapped my arms around her waist and held her close. My face was snuggled into her hair, and she smelled like coconuts. I knew she always used everything coconut scented, since even her dish soap. It's crazy but even the smallest whiff of it reminds me of her.

"It was just a dream." I told her, while rubbing soothing circles on her back. I guess what she wanted to hear because she noticeably relaxed. I liked the feel of her in my arms. So little, I felt like I needed to protect her from the world. That's when I realized how fast my heart was beating. Her head was right muzzled into my chest, so be must've felt it to.

After about 15 seconds, I decided to speak.

"So do you always dream about me or..?" I said playfully.

She shot away from me. My body instantly felt cold.

"How did you-" she started. I got what she was asking.

"You said my name."

She blushed and looked down, playing with her bracelets. "Well in my dream, uh- just, nevermind."

My smile slowly left. "Tell me."

"It's nothing, I forget already." She was unconvincing, but before I could say anything, Lauren barged in. I groaned and took a step back from Taylor. Lauren tackled her into a bear hug. She pulled away, but still held Taylor at arms length.

"What happened?" It was more of a demand then a question.

"I- I don't even know." She stammered. Both gazes were set on me.

"Well?" Lauren said, impatiently.

"Well," I started, trying to remember the story. I had so much adrenaline and a weird feeling that it takes me a few seconds. "I followed you into the bathroom to make sure you were okay because you ran out of History in bad shape. Then I opened the door. You looked at me and all I said was Baby girl and- and you fainted. I carried you here and the nurse said you were dehydrated."

Taylor didn't say anything, even though I was talking to her. Lauren spoke next. "She couldn't have been dehydrated, she just had some juice this morning." Taylor looked at Lauren.

"Actually I took a bottle of juice, but I didn't drink it."

Mrs. Gross, the school nurse, walked into the room. She left earlier saying she needed more gauze, and she places her bags of gauze on her desk.

"Taylor! You're awake! And you have...company." She said looking between me and Lauren.

"Well if you feel good enough, you can return to classes. If you still feel dizzy, we can contact a parent or gaurdian to pick you up."

"My parents are working. They can't pick me up, but I don't think I can go to classes and concentrate," Taylor's explained. She bit her lip, and I tried to look away, I really did, but damn she looked really good like that.

"Blake could drive you home." Lauren suggested. Taylor's face brightened up.

"Really?" She asked.

"Yeah of course." Lauren motioned to herself, then to me. "We'll come with. So you won't be alone at the house."

Taylor raised her eyebrow at me, as if asking if I'm okay with it. I nodded. Skipping school for more time with Taylor? Anytime.

"I'll call Blake to come after third period."

"Speaking of after third period, I told you to come then, not in the middle of it" I said.

She turned to me with almost anger on her face. "If I texted you telling you Blake was in the nurse's, would you wait an other half an hour to come?"

I wrinkled my nose. "Touchè."

She looked down at her phone for a couple seconds, reading.

"He said wait for him in the car. He'll be out in 5 minutes"

Nurse Gross said, "Just make sure you guys sign out in the office so you don't get marked in as a skip. Taylor please sure drink some water today. You don't want an other episode like the one we just had, okay?"

I turned to Taylor and she nodded. As she was making her to the door, I blurted out, "Can you walk okay?" She turned to me with a blank face.

"Actually, I'm kinda dizzy. Can you give me a piggy back ride?" She suggested, smiling.

I don't know if it was the fact I watched her almost dead for an hour that made me say, "Sure".

I kneeled down next to her. She quickly wrapped her arms around me, climbing on my back. "Thanks Nurse Gross!" She yelled out, while I made our way down the hallway. "You know," I said in a seductive voice, "you can ask for a ride anytime." I turned my head slightly to wink at her. She slapped me in the back of the head. "Shut up and walk." I chuckled and continued to Blake's car, with Lauren trailing behind.
