Chapter 38.

Taylor's P. O. V.

"Ricky, don't even start with that bullshit! You know I never threw up!" Zach boasts from beside me. They're arguing about eating some weird flavored beans in freshman year, and Ricky is insisting Zach puked. Guys argue about the weirdest things.

"Yes you did, in my mom's flowerbed, I remember I had to clean it!"

"Honestly if it was anyone it was me," Blake adds in. "You know I have a weak stomach."

Lauren looks at me from across the lunch table and rolls her eyes. I let out a small laugh from her action, agreeing internally.

"I hate to say it, but I wish it was baseball season so they would argue about that, instead of this," I tell her, taking note of the gray skies from the windows of the cafeteria.

She snorts. "Tell me about it, they need something to do with all this free time."

When she says that, it reminds me of when Zach said something about Bentley having too much of it, hence his whole photoshopping complex. I haven't seen him around, and I wonder if he still goes to the school.

"Fuck you," Brandon adds to the conversation, and I'm officially lost as to where this conversation went.

"I'm sure you want to, but I have a girl so next time say something sooner," Zach cockily remarks, and my cheeks heat at his choice of words.

"Bathroom?" Lauren suggests, grabbing her lunch tray to take to the garbage can. I nod, grabbing the lose wrappers on the table and Zach's empty juice bottle. He's laughing at something someone else said and doesn't notice. I sigh, trailing behind Lauren.

"When does Zach leave again?"

"Tomorrow morning," I tell her, opening the bathroom door for her to walk in before me.

Her blonde hair whips out of sight behind a stall door. "Damn. Maybe we can all do something tonight."

"Like what?"

"I don't know, a double date? We should go out and have fun."

"I don't know.." I trail off, not liking the tone of her voice.

She laughs loudly. "I'm kidding, nothing crazy. Like bowling! Or ice skating maybe. We could go see a movie even."

"I'll ask Zach, see what he wants to do."

"The movies sound best honestly. The other two are too competitive," she admits.

"True."

Lauren finishes up in the bathroom, and when we get back to the table, everyone is getting up to leave. Zach slings an arm around my shoulder, leading me out.

"Hey, so Lauren asked if we all wanted to do something tonight?"

Zach hums, and I continue. "She said she wants to go to the movies, and I think that new Grinch movie is out and I know how much you wanted to see it," I laugh, well aware of how much he hates the small green character.

"I-, yeah I'll just, that's fine." He responds, pulling his phone out of his pocket with the hand that isn't on my shoulder.

"What?" I feel my eyebrows furrowing.

He shakes his head, insisting, "Nothing, I'll just let them know I won't go."

"What do you mean? Let who know?" He removes his arm from me as we reach his locker.

"Ricky wanted to me come over with a few of the guys before I left, but I'll go with you tonight."

I immediately feel guilty. I definitely notice Zach has spent most of his time with me, but I was always too selfish to mention it.
