I spent the whole afternoon watching chickflicks, psychological thrillers, and romance movies, trying hard not to overthink. I called Luke 8 times and all of them were missed. I even left 20 messages, all of which were unanswered. They were not even read. I knocked on his window countless times until my knuckles turned red. Why is Luke ignoring me? Have I done something wrong? I thought of going over to his place by the front door, but I figured I would give him a break, if that is what he really wants since he is ignoring me anyway.

As the movie 'Juno' was ending, I took out my headphones and looked out of the window and saw a car outside of Luke's house, driving away. It looked like an Uber but I was not too sure. I shrugged it off and decided to go to the kitchen to grab something to eat after realising how hungry I am for not eating since morning. As I was walking past the hallway, I heard murmurs, as if a few people were having a really serious conversation. I don't remember mom informing me there were guests. Then I heard my mom spoke in a low voice, "Should I call her down to join us in this conversation? It's better if she knew as well since it's her boyfri-" I walked to the dining room table, where the voices are and everyone turned to look at me.

"Hi, welcome back! It's good to finally see you guys! Why didn't anyone tell me all of you have returned from your business trips?" I squealed with excitement. Can you believe it? Luke's parents, my aunt and my uncle were right infront of my eyes! They have no idea how much I missed them. It felt like a dream!

"Hello Ally, it's good to see you too. Why don't you join us, we have something to tell you," Luke's mom spoke. For some reason, she did not sound too happy. Something inside of me tells me this dream of mine is turning into a nightmare.

"So what did I miss?" I replied awkwardly, looking at everyone's worried faces as I took a seat.

"Well Ally, you see..." mom said slowly, grabbing my hands.

"Something happened to Luke."

"He... he got into an accident this morning," she continued, this time even slower and her voice became softer after every word.

I opened my mouth but couldn't utter a word. Literally nothing came out of my mouth. I was in disbelief. This is not happening. I have lost a lot of people I loved, I don't want to lose another.

Upon the sudden realisation of mom's words, I let go of her hands.

"T-t-this is a joke right? So where's Luke? Come on now this isn't funny," I looked around anxiously. My hands were shaking as I put them on my lap, trying to act as if nothing has happened.

"Sweetie, he's in a coma in the hospital right now," Aunt Belle spoke with clear sadness in her tone of voice.

I swallowed my saliva, convincing myself not to cry as I hear those words. Coma. Hospital. Surely this cannot be happening. I stayed quiet, waiting for Luke to come out and surprise me and tell me all of this was a joke. But Luke is not here, and sadly this is not a joke.

"Would you... would you like to see him in the hospital now?" Luke's mom asked.

Upon hearing those words, my head got dizzy and my initial appetite to eat was gone. Instead I could feel my stomach twisting in a tight knot. I hold on to my stomach as I shook my head 'no'.

"Are you alright?" Mom asked worriedly.

Before I could reply her, my surroundings turned black as I slowly closed my eyes.

I fainted.

I woke up on my bed, with Aunt Belle sitting beside me and holding a glass of water.

"Are you okay? You fainted. Here, have a sip," she said softly, handing me the glass of water.

I tried to sit upright but my head was throbbing. I hold my head as I slowly sat upright, drinking some water.
