Ch.38 Wooden Puppet

I just realized that I've been typing wrong by putting the period after the quotation mark instead of before, I'm gonna try to do that now if I remember, I feel so stupid :/

Later in the day, Darling decided to take a walk in the park when she noticed Brenden sitting on a bench with a sad look on his face. Knowing that this was probably about his secret, she went up to him and sat next to him.

"Hey" she said.

"Hey" he said with a small smile.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah" he mumbled, Darling knew he was lying.

"No you're not" she said "I know that look, you haven't told them have you?"

Brenden gave a sigh "I still need time."

"You said that when we were still in Wonderland, and it's getting close to the end of the semester and you haven't done anything."

"Look Darling, this is really hard for me. How am I suppose to tell them if Christina doesn't feel the same way anymore?"

"You don't know that, cause like you, she could be hiding her real feelings too."

"Oh yeah?" he doubted "If she really is hiding her feelings, how do you think she's gonna feel if I tell her about this? She wont like me anymore, none of my friends will."

"You don't know that."

"You don't know that either" he frowned.

"Brenden, we made a deal, if you don't tell them, I will."

"Why are you doing this to me?" he asked with frustration.

"I'm doing this for you, I care about you, I care about all of you. You know that the truth is always the best thing."

"How is the truth always the best thing when it's going to turn into a big problem?"

"You don't think this is a problem already?"

Brenden gave a sad sigh as he rubbed his forehead.

"Brenden" Darling said "You wanna know a little story? Before the White Knight retired, he told me that he used to protect you guys when you were kids, and before he gave his job to me, he told me to protect you guys, and that's what I'm doing. It's my duty to make sure nothing bad happens to all of you. If you keep this secret in it's just going to get worse."

Brenden avoided eye contact so she wouldn't see his depressed face.

"I'm worried about you Brenden" Darling said with a sad look "You're causing this problem yourself, and if you don't fix it, who knows what could happen."

Brenden bit his lips and held back his tears.

"So here's the deal" she said "If you don't tell them by the end of the semester, I will. I just don't want this love problem to tear you all apart."

Brenden gave a sad sigh as he tried to get the thought out of his head. He then got up and walked away with his head down so no one could see the tear dripping down his cheek.

"Think about it" Darling called.

As she watched him walk away, her worries got stronger, she had a feeling he wasn't gonna tell them.

Still in her house, Francis felt her the pain in her legs getting stronger. She rolled up her pants and couldn't believe her eyes when she saw that her legs had been turned to wood! Along with brass pegs that were screwed into her joints. She started to panic, she forced herself to move her legs towards the couch as she winched in pain. She was able to make it to the couch and laid down, she then noticed her phone on the table, she needed to call for help. So she reached out and grabbed her phone, but before she could tap the screen, she was shocked to see that her fingers were turning to wood! She couldn't even tap the screen, so her chance to call for help was lost.

It was 10 minutes till 4, and Kayla decided to stop by Mr. Gold's shop to see if she could find the Blue Fairy's wand. But when she got to the store, she saw that it was closed.

"Dammit" she hissed with frustration.

"Hey Kayla" Julie said as she and Scott went up to her "You need something in Mr. Gold's shop?"

"Yeah I'm looking for the Blue Fairy's wand" Kayla said.

"The Blue Fairy's wand?" Scott said "What for?"

"Well Francis thinks she's gonna turn back into wood since the curse is broken, and just in case it happens, we need the Blue Fairy's wand in order to turn her back, but apparently, I have no idea where it is. And I've been meaning to ask Mr. Gold, but it seams he's not here at the moment."

"She thinks she's turning back into wood?" Julie gasped.

"I don't know" Kayla sighed "I mean it might happen, so I need the wand in case it does happen."

"So what's Francis doing now?" Scott asked.

"Well I'm actually gonna head to her place and take her to the movies since she seams pretty stressed out about this."

"Well that's nice" Julie said.

"You guys wanna join us?"

"Oh sure" they both said.

"Great" Kayla smiled "Let's just get Francis".

So they went to Francis's place and up to her door as Kayla gave a knock. They waited, but no answer.

"Francis" Kayla called as she knocked again, but still no answer.

"Come in" they heard a faint voice gasped.

Curious, Kayla opened the door and they all went in. They went into the living room and were shocked to see Francis lying on the couch with her full body turn to wood! The only part that hasn't changed was her head.

"Francis!" they all gasped as they ran to her.

"Oh my God" Julie gasped with shock "You're turning back to wood".

"You don't know how painful this is" Francis said under her breath "I can barely breath, I can't even feel my own heart anymore".

"Francis" Kayla said with a sad look "I've been trying to find the wand, but so far there's no luck, I'm gonna look in Mr. Gold's shop, it has to be there".

"Francis" Julie said with a sad look "Is there anything we can do to help?"

"Just find the wand" Francis said as her skin started to turn to wood "It's the only thing that can save-".

But before she could finish, her face had completely turned to woods. Everyone was full of shock, Francis was now a wooden puppet.
