THIRTY-SEVEN: ONE YEAR

Alyssa's POV

Finally, filming for my movie ended. It was bittersweet to me. If the movie turned out to be successful, it could be my big break for my acting career, and I was really excited to find out how everything would come together. But it had also taken up a lot of time and work, and it hadn't allowed me to hang out with anyone as often or focus as much on Youtube.

"Say hi to the people, Mark!" I told him as I walked through my festive, Christmassy apartment with a camera. I had decided to try to vlog a lot more regularly on my personal channel. A lot of people seemed to want to see more of my daily life, especially since Mark and I had a public relationship. So, I made sure to vlog with him every once in a while to make everyone happy.

"Hi to the people, Mark!" he responded sassily. I rolled my eyes at him and put the camera back on myself.

"Alright, he just lost his privilege to be on camera in these vlogs," I decided.

"No, I want to be on camera!" he whined, trying to squeeze into view as I did my best to keep the lens pointing only at myself. We pushed each other around, battling to be in MY vlog. In the end, he got his way and he managed to steal the camera from me and run away with it. Webster sprung up with enthusiasm and followed him into the office where Aubrey and I recorded our videos. She was in there editing, and by the time I had caught up to Mark, he was vlogging with Aubrey, saying that he was the new Alyssa Collins.

"Excuse me, sir! I'm the one and only Alyssa Collins of Albrey Calassi, and I can't be replaced!"

"I don't know, Lys. He looks pretty good in a dress. If I helped him with hair and makeup, he'd be a convincing girl. And he is already a popular Youtuber, so..."

"Aubrey! I can't believe you're siding with him!" I crossed my arms in frustration.

"You all heard Aubrey! I'm a part of the channel now," Mark spoke to the camera and the fans who would watch the vlog later.

"You are not! Get him, Webs!" Webster jumped up at Mark, but instead of acting vicious, he just licked him and wagged his tail.

"Alright, alright, fine! You can keep your spot on the channel," Mark gave in.

"And?"

"And you can have the camera back," he added, handing it over.

"That's more like it!" I smiled. "Anyways, I was going to say that today we're all going shopping for our annual Christmas party once Aubrey's finished with editing..."

Even though we already had most of the same decorations from our last party up, Aubrey and I found a few new ideas (thanks, Pinterest), plus we needed groceries to get food and drinks ready. Mark was basically just along for the ride. He did help us make a couple of decisions, though. But neither of them wanted to look at New Years decorations with me. I didn't get it - I sure didn't want to have to go shopping for party items AGAIN after Christmas, but Aubrey insisted that it would be fine.

******************************************

We might not have been ready for New Years yet, but we were plenty prepared by the time guests arrived for the Christmas party a few days later. Everyone who attended it had to wear something Christmas themed - ugly Christmas sweaters, shirts with characters or quotes from movies, red and green...it could be subtle or obnoxious. Aubrey and I generally went all out with ugly sweaters, but this year I wore a green flannel with a red Home Alone shirt underneath and she wore a red flannel with a green Elf shirt underneath. We accessorized with jingle bell bracelets and light up reindeer antlers to make our outfits a bit more flashy. Aubrey was a little (jokingly) annoyed when Mark showed up in his lucky red flannel that practically matched hers, but she got over it when we realized that it made for both a cute best friend picture of Aubrey and I in our red and green flannels and a cute couple picture of Mark and I in our red and green flannels.
