TWENTY-THREE - LOST GLASSES
Alyssa's POV
Soon after the exciting Indy Pop Con news, Wade, Molly, and Tyler (a friend of Mark's who I knew about but hadn't met yet) flew out to LA for a week of both work and fun. I was looking forward to seeing them and meeting Tyler finally.
I went to the airport with Mark to pick them up. I was greeted with hugs from Molly and Wade as well as a handshake from Tyler. I remembered him from a livestream he did with Mark years previously, but I still didn't know a whole lot about him. He seemed really kind and somewhat quiet from his introduction, but I had a feeling we'd get along well.
Mark took some time to show his guests around LA since one of them hadn't been there before, but soon after that they began recording games like Spore and Table Tug. In addition, they went to Matthias' place to record a sketch and a couple challenges. Towards the end of the week, Mark, Wade, and Tyler did a livestream together during which Molly and I hung out so as not to disturb the guys' plans. It was strange to look at Mark on that day, though. He completely shaved all his facial hair that morning, which was something he hadn't done in an extremely long time. He looked the way he did when I first began watching his channel in 2012 - definitely adorable, but undeniably baby-faced.
"Why'd you shave, again?" I asked that night.
"I had a dream that I shaved and cut my face up," he responded.
"So that inspired you to shave with the chance of making that horror a reality?"
"Hey, don't judge me! Why are you asking, anyways? Do you not like this look?"
"It's absolutely impossible for you to not look good, so of course I like it. But I've got to admit I like the scruff better," I confessed.
"I do too. I'm looking a little pre-pubescent right now," he chuckled.
"It's alright, I look pre-pubescent whenever I'm not wearing makeup," I assured him.
"I don't know about that. I do know that you look beautiful with or without it, though."
"Oh, stop," I told him, blushing. Even though it was a little cliché, it still made me feel good to hear that.
A few days later, Wade, Molly, and Tyler left LA, and things went back to normal. I wished they all could have stayed - I really enjoyed having chances to hang out with them. It broke up my regularly scheduled days, and even though I absolutely loved doing Youtube with Aubrey, it was nice to focus on purely having fun every once in a while.
Speaking of my channel with Aubrey, it was during a date night the next day when our channel hit six million subscribers. I got her text about it once Mark and I left our favorite local movie theater.
"Aubrey and I reached six million subs, apparently," I announced as he began driving.
"That's awesome! Should we get ice cream to celebrate?"
"Normally I wouldn't turn ice cream down, but I don't think I need to eat anything for a while after all that popcorn," I decided.
"Alright. We'll get ice cream tomorrow, then," he promised.
We did get ice cream the next day, but not until after Aubrey and I made a more-serious-than-usual vlog to thank our fans for getting our channel to six million subs. Funnily enough, Mark's channel was about to hit a milestone too, but he would be reaching eight million subs, and as it turned out, it would probably happen while he was in Las Vegas. He was going for a promotional thing, and I wasn't going with. Vegas wasn't really all that interesting to me anyways. I just told him to have a safe flight and to enjoy himself and send selfies while he was there.
