After dinner your father shows Edward and Alphonse to the guest rooms, unused rooms seeing as You and your father didn't have guests often. Your father had purchased this large home for your mother, she liked having an abundance of space to follow her artsy dreams. You return to your room shortly after the boys where shown to their temporary bed rooms. As soon as you closed the door to your bedroom, a sudden wave of joy flew high above you, and crashed down onto you. You couldn't exactly pinpoint what had you smiling. It must be this new found journey, a journey that even had total purpose. You couldn't imagine being happier than you were right now, but you also couldn't sleep, for whatever reason. You decided to take your regular spot on the roof, you spent many nights, and even days hiding out up here. You cracked your window open and hopped ontop of your house. The stars looked extra beautiful tonight, you accounted that as just your mood being extra good. You couldn't help but feel like you weren't alone. You looked to your sides to find no one, though you did notice a figure sitting on the opposite side of the roof, as you looked behind you. It was Ed, it had to be. You could faintly see the color of red on his oddly long coat, and the almost aura like color of his golden hair under the moon.
You begin to make your way to that side of the roof calmly, until Edward freaks out at your sudden presence.
"It's just me you doorknob!" you shout at the now, fight stanced boy.
"Oh.." Ed says, as he slumps back into his spot.
"What are you doing up here?" you ask sitting next to him.
"I could ask you the same." Ed says.
"You don't like answering questions do you?" you ask him.
"Aren't you observant." Ed says sarcastically.
"Well I just cant sleep, I'm over joyed." you reply, avoiding the natural bickering between the two of you.
Edward finally looks at you, almost feeling bad for being so difficult with you. He could see the happiness in your eyes, but what could she see in yours?
"Do you, think that maybe, you could help teach me some things?" you ask Ed, looking away from him.
"Well I have a pretty busy life in central.." Ed replies, noticing this as a blank lie.
"Oh come on now." you respond.
"Sure.." Edward says, looking to the sky.
"What? Really?" you say happily.
You throw yourself over in Ed's direction to hug him. Ed slightly blushes, but doesn't fight you. You notice his arm is hard, cold. You move off of him, and take his hand. He blushes more, not yet knowing your intent in taking his hand.
"Your arm is metal?" you ask, looking at his glove covering his hand.
Edward pulls his arm back and holds it to his side. "Yes."
"That's pretty cool actually, can I look?". You ask trying to be nice.
"Cool?" Ed responded in a single chuckle.
Edward notices you are looking directly at him. He catches your gaze, and he looses all want to fight with you over anything.
"It's a long story, maybe I'll tell you one day. How about you go get some rest and we can start training tomorrow?" Edward says, completely trying to avoid this conversation.
"Al's not in that armor his he?" you ask, realizing maybe you shouldn't have.
Edward looks down letting his bangs cover his face. His mouth opens but no sounds come out. You feel bad for stumbling into what must be these boys secret.
"Ed, I, I'm sorry, you don't have to tell me about this until you are ready. I've read a few things, and I could make a number of guesses, But I don't judge you. I'm sorry for prying on things without you giving me information freely." you ramble on feeling really bad.
"It's fine.. " Edward says still looking down.
"Please don't be upset Edward." you say, not understanding why you are being so soft all of a sudden.
Edward lifts his head with a big grin.
"It's Fine (y/n)! Just get some rest I'll see you tomorrow." Ed says.
"Right." you say with a smile.
I don't think its Fine, and I don't think its okay.. He was just making an attempt at making me feel better, or better yet, maybe to make himself feel better.. I wonder what those boys really went through, even though I know, I try not to think I do. I hope Edward is okay, especially Alphonse, poor not must be scared stuck in that suit of armor. Your head was full of thoughts as You lay in bed.
"Ugh I should try and get some rest." you mumble to yourself to try and quiet your mind.
Edward couldn't sleep either. Ed made his way to Alphonse's room, and let himself in.
"Brother!" Al says, excitedly as he was probably bored.
"Quiet Al." Ed says back.
"Oh right." Al says giggling at himself.
"I can't sleep. It's just, (y/n)." Ed said looking down.
"Oh ho! So you do think she is cute!" Al says jokingly.
"No this is serious Al!" Ed snaps back.
"What is it brother?" Al asks.
"She noticed my arm, and she asked me if you were really in that suit." Ed said clenching his fists.
"You think She knows?" Al asks. "Wait when did this happen?" Al asks After confused.
"She found me on the roof, I couldn't sleep." Ed responds.
"So why couldn't you sleep before" Al asks interested.
"Al what do we tell her?" Ed asks over his question.
"Well, what about, and this should be simple brother..." Al says.
"What are you getting at Al?" Ed says impatiently.
"The truth?" Al asks.
"We don't even know her!" Ed says, swinging his arm to his side.
"Then get to know her brother. Knowing our sins is a good start to knowing everything about us." Al says.
"Maybe." Ed says quietly.
