"So.. Ed.. Have any ideas of what book you might be looking for?" you ask, as you and Edward walk towards the library in silence.

"Huh.. I guess I was just going to wing it and see what I find.." Edward responds, taking a hand to cup his chin, he looks as though he is thinking deeply.

"Well, I was going to look for Andreas Libavius." You respond sharing for previous thoughts.

"Wasn't that an alchemist from the 1600s?" Edward questions now looking to you with total interest.

"Yeah! That's him! But as I know, most of his work is disguised as travel logs or cook books." you say, getting a little discouraged at your memory of the small amount of notes you once saw.

"If you find any of his notes, I'll help you decode them!" Edward replies with a big grin, pointing a thumb at himself.

"Thanks Ed." you respond, giggling at his face and choice of hand gesture.

Reaching the library was a relief for you, as the streets of the large city always seem so unending. The stairs to the library almost seem more polished, and clean than the stairs at the headquarters. The beauty that lay inside of that library was more than you could ever sum up into words, you had never seen so many books in one place, every thing was shiny and clean to add to this lovely charm. Your thoughts of this place were more than apparent, as the expressions on your face could show your inner spasims, as you looked around marveling at the sight.

"Uhh, (y/n).. It's just a library." Edward says, looking over to you with a face of disbelief, sweat drops begin forming as he stares at you like a ticking time bomb.

"But I.. But it's.. Look at... There's so many.." You stumble on your own words, not knowing what to say first.

"What is it-" Edward begins but is quickly cut off by you shouting, "BOOKS!" you run off, after yelling in Edward's ear, leaving him standing there, beginning to twitch from becoming irritated by your actions.

"Jeez she can be annoying.. But at least she isn't yelling at me.." Edward mumbles, not moving forward until he felt better, as his fist lowered and his fingers finally spread out once more.

"Al!" You exclaim happily upon finding the younger alchemist.

"(y/n)! Where brother?" Alphonse asks looking up from his book.

"Oh.. Um.. He's around here somewhere." you reply, looking around for the short blonde.

"Knowing brother, a book has already eaten him alive." Alphonse replies in a chuckle.

"Yeah maybe." You say rubbing the back of your neck, remembering how you acted upon entering the library.

"There yall are, hey Al." Edward says, walking up behind you, placing his flesh hand on your shoulder.

"Hey Ed! You should read this!" Alphonse says getting up quickly, to shove his book in Edward's face.

"What is it?" Edward says ready to look at whatever his younger brother had to show him.

"Look, right here, I think this means more than what it says." Alphonse says, pointing to a sentence below what looks like ingredients for a cake recipe.

"Hmm we should look at this book a bit more. Wanna help (y/n)?" Edward says peering down at the book, then looking to you with enthusiasm.

"I'm sure you guys can handle it together, I'm going to search for a certain book." you say slowly turning around.

"Libivacus' work?" Edward asks, as he starts remembering what you were talking about on the way to the library.

"Yes! I'm so excited to find some of his work and read it first hand!" you respond happily at the idea of that actually happening.

"Let me know what you find!" Edward says with a grin, then turning back to his younger brother.

"Right!" You say with determination then walk away.

"Hey Ed.. Can I ask you a question?" you say, walking up to Edward who was on the floor looking at a book intently.

"What is it?" Edward says holding his book down to his lap.

"Do you think matter created life, or do you think life created matter?" You ask Edward with a serious look.

"Life created matter I guess.. Something you read about?" Edward asks looking to you with slight concern drawn on his face.

"I enjoy reading different view points of other scientists.. But sometimes it really makes me think.. Like what do we know for sure Ed?" you trail off in your own words, looking lower and lower with each word you spill.

"I.. I don't know (y/n).." Edward responds not sure what the right thing to tell you is.

"The void is the one, and just truth, it's within the truth.." You trail on obviously lost in thought.

"I.. (y/n).." Edward says becoming more worried in your new found state, but not Knowing anything to say to help you.

"If only I could see the truth one more tim-" you begin to say, as your eyes grow cold, then you snap back to reality when you feel two strong hands grip your shoulders.

"Don't say that! Don't you dare open that gate ever again (y/n).." Edward slightly shouts, as he shakes you gently.

"It's just.. These books.. are written by other humans.. How can I trust all of these? That door has every truth!" you shout back not thinking too hard on your words at the moment.

"(y/n).... Promise me you won't do anything stupid." Edward says, now trying to lift your head to see your eyes. "Promise me."

"Fine fine.. Sorry for that, I guess I let my mind get the best of me." You say with a sad tone, as you place a hand onto your automail leg, feeling around your leg.

"That's right." Edward states still giving you that stern look.

"Huh?" You respond quickly looking into Edward's eyes.

"Do you really want to go through with that again?" Edward replies looking down at your leg, he places a hand on it next to yours. "You paid this price to see that truth.."

"I know.." you respond, you let a single tear escape you as the memories come flooding back.

"Promise me you won't put yourself through that again." Edward says sounding just as sad himself at this point.

"Okay..." You quickly respond.

"Promise!" Edward says with his eyes now shut.

"I promise Ed!" You say, realizing how right Edward was. "Thank you for being that real with me."

Edward looks up in shock as he wasn't expecting to get a thank you, "I just don't want to see you hurt." Edward then replies with a smile.

"And I love you for that Edward." you say quickly, then you leap over to hug onto the blonde, who was kneeling in front of you.

"You w..." Edward begins to question you, but quickly sees no real reason too.

"There are things that we don't want to happen, but we have to accept, things we don't want to know but have to learn either way, and people we can't live without, but have to let go of." You say, your thoughts becoming more clear thanks to Edward's comforting you.

"T-that's.. That's right.." Edward replies as he tightens his grip on you
