"G-Guess!" I screamed.

"What's wrong?!" Beyond was always there for me when something happened.

"They... They're going to torture her! Torture her for information she doesn't even have!" I flew as fast as I could to the portal to the human world. Beyond stopped me.

"Enya! Stay calm! Think about this!"

"No! You think I'm just going to let them do that to her? I should have checked on her sooner!" I continued to fly to the human world and desperately searched for the warehouse where my best friend was being held hostage. The moment I found it I almost fell from the sky. When I arrived they'd smashed her goggles. Her goggles being such a huge part of her, it hurt her physically as well as mentally. Rage boiled over and I felt twisting horns rise from my head. I set myself in front of her and a violent wind suddenly surged through the room.

"YOU WILL PAY!" I screeched. They saw me. They heard me. And they cried in horror.

"R-Robin?" A quiet voice spoke from behind me. I didn't turn. I focused on my enemies. My shadow left my feet, surging hands kept towards each of the five men, holding them in the air by the throat.

Snap. Snap.
Two dead.
Their necks snapped like twigs.
Snap.
Two left.
Snap.
The hammer dropped to the floor.

The final man squirmed in my grasp. I brought him close to me as he trembled.

"That was the price."
Snap.

My horns gradually sank back into my head, the wind died down, and my shadow returned to my feet. The limp bodies fell to the floor. Five corpses. I turned around to face Guess.

"Long time no see, huh?" She stared up at me in awe. I smiled, but my vision began to fade, and my body went numb. I collapsed onto the floor. The last thing I heard was Guess calling my name.

Guess's POV

"Robin!" I shouted as she fell to the ground. I struggled even harder than before with the chains that attached me to the chair but it was no use. "Robin, wake up! Please, wake up!" Something near her moved. "Robin?" Suddenly, her shadow launched itself at me, it took a humanoid figure. It rested both hands on each of my legs, it's face was inches head away from mine. It had no features but to glowing white orbs for eyes. It stared at me curiously; my breath got caught in my throat.

"You..." The voice of the figure was distorted, high pitched. It resembled the voice L used in the videos Mello sent us. The creature pulled up my tank top slightly to reveal the scar I got all those years ago. It wasn't scabby and black like it was in 2004; it was only a fine line you couldn't feel, only see; easily mistaken for a pointless tattoo or pen. "You're the one who defied me..."

"Who are you?" I asked. I tried to remain calm but my voice shook.

"Ha, ha! I am the spirit of the Death Note!" Mello had spoken to us about the Death Note, the human's name who's written in it dies in 40 seconds of a heart attack unless the cause and time of death are specified. "You defied me... You shouldn't be alive..."

"What do you want from me?"

"How did you do it?" The shadow paced it's way around me, circling the chair. "How did you survive?"

"I don't know!" I racked my brain for a half decent answer. "I suppose it wasn't my time yet, I had unfinished business or something!"

"The Death Note cuts a person's lifespan to where ever the user desires, but cannot elongate it. If it isn't 'your time' you're simply unlucky. No one has defied me before, nor has anyone since. What makes you so different?"

I tried to imagine what everyone's life would be like if I'd died the day that was desired. Robin... "I survived for Robin." I concluded.

"Robin, ey? That could make sense. She's now the princess of the Shinigami Realm. Did you know that?" I looked at Robin lying on the floor and shook my head. The shadow suddenly stopped walking, and went back and stared into my eyes again. "Oh, you poor tortured soul!" He cried after a moment. "Robin isn't the only reason your still here! Your undying love for a young man who is oh so far away from here effected many lives around you. Especially his. What a shame... What a shame..." Matt...

"Is he alive?! Did you do something to him?!"

"Oh, I've done nothing to him directly! I've entered his life like I have yours and the blond young man's which I suppose is reason enough to cause his death." All the fear I had of this supernatural creature faded; my true fear breaking my heart. "Of course you know that."

"What?"

"Don't you remember? These dreams you have of him dying... It's all going to happen."

"Going?"

"Well he's not dead yet! But he will be." I could still save him. No matter what anyone told me. "But you want be there to witness it." I met his stare, with his glowing white eyes. "No one defies me and lives to tell the tale." The humanoid figure vanished, and collapsed onto itself creating a small puddle of darkness on the floor. It began to trail up my leg like a snake stalking its prey, over my chest, up my neck, on my cheek, curling it's way to my mouth. I couldn't speak. I couldn't move. I couldn't breath. The shadow continued down my throat and up into my eyes, blinding me in darkness. It choked me from the inside, I tried to cough, I tried to do something but it was no use. It was over.
