Harry's POV
How dare he?! That filthy bastard! Josh seems like such a nice person, but on the inside, he's a monster. I'm so happy that Mus has seen his true colors.
"Harry!" Mus yells from behind me. However, I don't turn back or acknowledge her.
"Harry!" She yells again. "Please stop. Stop, please." Nothing can stop me now. I don't care what she says or does, Josh is dead. Bastard! Suddenly, Mus yelps. I turn back to find her sitting on the floor, holding her ankle.
"Mus, are you alright?" I ask her, rushing toward her. Mus shakes her head. Her face is scrunched up in pain. I crouch down beside her, taking her foot in my lap.
"So clumsy." I murmur, shaking my head. Her ankle is red, and swollen. Usually, a twist doesn't swell up so fast. I touch it with my thumb, and Mus winces.
"I think it's fractured." I say, touching it again. Mus winces, yet again. "Let's go to the hospital." Mus shakes her head, trying to get up. Her efforts are in vain.
"No, I'll be fine." Mus says, pushing herself up with the help of her elbows. She moves her foot slightly, and yelps. Before Mus can say anything else, I slip my arms underneath her back, and knees. In one haul, Mus is in my arms.
"Harry, put me down." Mus says, placing her hands against my chests. I shake my head, heading towards the exit.
"Where are you taking her?" Darcy yells from behind me. Groaning, I turn around. First it was the mother, and now it's the daughter. This trait runs in the blood. Louis is close behind her heels.
"To the hospital," I say.
"Why?" Darcy asks me, confused.
"She's fractured her ankle. Weakling." Mus' eyes widen, and she punches my chest. "I speak the truth and nothing but the truth."
Mus giggles, wrapping her arms around my neck.
"What's that on your face, Harry?" Louis says, scrunching his eyebrows. I look at him, confused. "It's a smile, right, Darcy?" I'm smiling? I don't even remember the last time I smiled.
"Louis, take care of Darcy. Watch the show and then take her to the hotel." I instruct him, turning back towards the exit. I hope nobody yells my name again or makes me turn back around.
"Bye!" Louis yells. I bet he's going to go back, and make a big deal about me smiling amongst the boys.
"You don't have to do this." Mus says, breaking the silence. She's right, I don't. But, I want to.
"Can we not speak?" I say, curtly. Yes, I'm taking her to the hospital, and after that I'll kick Josh's ass, but I don't want her to get a wrong impression. We're done for good.
"The cold shoulder treatment, huh?" I nod my head. "Oh, come on! I want to know what's been going on with you."
"Nothing," I murmur. I've been living and breathing work. Sometimes, when I'm drunk, I'll have a fling with someone. Other than that, everything is boring.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" Mus questions.
"No, and I don't plan on getting one." I say, in a dismissive tone.
"Why?" Apparently, Mus is not getting the message that I don't want to talk to her. At all.
"Love and relationships are a waste of time. They ruin us for life. Trust me, I know." I scoff. I look down to find Mus pouting. Absentmindedly, she starts tracing patterns on my shirt. As I near my car, I place Mus over my shoulder. With my right hand, I take out the car key.
"Why am I staring at your ass?" Mus asks me. I think she's smiling.
"You should feel honored." Mus hits my back. Her punches are more like nudges.
"You've not lost your confidence, huh?" I unlock the car, and open the passenger door. Gently, I place Mus on the seat. Giving her as little pain as I can, I put her leg on the dashboard. Mus winces once, however, she doesn't say anything.
"Thank you." Mus says as I shut the door. She's doing it again. She's softening me, and taking over my heart. Again. However, I will not let her do it. She's ruined my life once, and I won't let her do it again. I jog over to the driver's side, and enter the car as quickly as I can. The sooner this is over the better.
"Darcy, has asked about you quite a few times." Mus says. "She misses you."
"Darcy, doesn't even like me." I say, happy and shocked, at the same time. After Mus told her about my profession, Darcy has treated me so coldly. I don't believe that she has any love left for me.
"She does! Harry, no matter how much our parents scold us, we never stop loving them. This is a similar case. In her eyes, you're a bad person, but that doesn't mean she doesn't love you anymore." Wow, I didn't think of it in that way. All this time, I've been thinking that Darcy hates me, when she doesn't. She's just a bit upset.
"It doesn't really matter." I say, increasing the volume of the music.
"I've been thinking, Harry." Mus says, shifting slightly.
"Oh, that's not good," I murmur. Mus slaps my arm.
"Darcy needs her father as much as her mother. I've tried to fill your shoes, but I can't. I think we should work something out so that she can meet you often, and stay with you." Mus says, slowly as if I'm a child. I take in her words, confused. Is Mus proposing the idea that I should be a part of Darcy's life? Have I heard her correctly?
"You want me to meet her and spend time with her? You want her to stay with me?" I ask Mus, confusion evident in my tone.
"Yeah."
"Are you high? Is the pain making you sick?" I place my hand on Mus' forehead to check her temperature. Mus removes my hand, laughing.
"I'm sober, and sane. Harry, I'm serious."
"Okay, then. Let's discuss this tomorrow at lunch," I say. I'm feeling excited for some reason. I need to calm myself down, and not raise my hopes up too high.
"Are you inviting me to have lunch with you?" Mus says.
"Just for Darcy. This does not, and will not change anything between you and I." I say, sternly, and clearly. I hope she got the message.
"We'll see." Mus says. I turn my head to find a smug smile on her face. I'm going to regret this, I know it.
