Harry's POV
"Finally!" I exclaim, when I see Louis' car approaching us. Mus wants to go to the hospital, and I didn't bring my car. So I asked Louis to pick us up. However, he's taken almost an hour, when the hotel is barely fifteen minutes away from this restaurant.
"What took you so long? Were you coming all the way from Malaysia?" I ask him as he unlocks the car doors. I open the door for Mus, however, she doesn't seem to notice my action. Instead, she goes over to the other side of the car, and opens the door. I slam the door shut, deciding to sit beside Lou.
"I had to change, and freshen up." Louis defends himself.
"We're going to the hospital, not a fashion show." I say, lowering the radio's volume.
"Who says hospitals don't have hot chicks? Have you seen some of the nurses?" Louis wiggles his eyebrows, cheekily.
"You're watching too many dirty movies." I say, rolling my eyes. I take a look at Mus through the rear view mirror. She is staring at her hands, but her eyes look distant. She's blaming herself for this, I know it. Honestly, I don't want her to meet Josh, but I have no choice. Mus, is distraught. If I keep her away from Josh, I'll have to suffer the consequences. She'll get pissed at me, and remain disturbed until she doesn't meet him.
"Mus?" I say slowly, as if I'm speaking to a child. She doesn't respond. Sighing, I pass my hand through my hair. Louis looks at me with a puzzled and questioning expression. I shake my head. I don't want to explain anything to him right now. He shrugs his shoulders, and increases the volume of the radio. I want to sleep. Not because I'm tired, but because sleep drowns out all the worry and stress of this world for just a few hours. It will transport me to a safe, and calm place, where there's no drama or worries.
"Harry?" Mus calls out, interrupting the silence.
"Yeah?" I say, turning around. Mus doesn't meet my eyes.
"Josh will be fine, right?" Mus asks me in a whisper.
"Yeah, he'll be fine. It's not like he's suffering from a bullet wound." I say, hoping to lighten out the dreary mood in the car. However, my efforts are in vain. Mus doesn't even crack a fake smile.
"He did hit me, and it was wrong of him to do so. But, what happened to him today - what you did to him - wasn't right."
"I..." I don't know what to say. I'm not sorry for beating him up, and turning his body into an art project. Neither do I feel bad for him. He deserves what he's gotten.
"Don't worry, it's not your fault." Mus says, as if to assure me. But, it puts me in further discomfort. "It's mine." She says it so softly that if there weren't pin drop silence in the car, I wouldn't have heard her. There's no use of me telling Mus that all of this isn't her fault because she won't listen to me right now. Instead, I turn back around and purse my lips. I messed up big time. At the time I was thinking about Mus, but I wasn't thinking about putting her into a worse situation. I wanted to take revenge for what he'd done to her. Even though, my men had already done a pretty good job. However, it has backfired. Instead of him suffering, Mus and I are suffering. I bet Darcy will find out soon enough, and she'll hate me even more. The bond that I was forming with her will tear again, and we'll be back at square one.
"We're here!" Louis sings. He's the happiest among us all. It's either because he's stupid or he's deaf and blind for not seeing and hearing everything that's going on in the car. Louis finds a parking spot and once he's parked the car and turned the engine off, Mus, Louis and I get out of the car.
"Do you have any idea as to where Josh is?" Louis asks us, as we enter the hospital. I shake my head.
"We'll get the information from the receptionist," Mus says. Suddenly, her face scrunches up in pain, and Mus' knees buckle from underneath her. Hastily, I take a step toward her and grab her before she falls.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?!" I ask, alarmed. Mus squeezes her eyes shut tightly.
"What's wrong with her?" Louis says, crouching down beside me. I want to smack him for asking me such a stupid question.
"If I knew what is wrong with her, don't you think I'd do something about it?!" I yell at him, in frustration and anger. Louis smiles at me sheepishly. Just as quickly as she shut her eyes, Mus opens them, and looks up at me.
"I'm fine," Mus says, nonchalantly. She moves out of my arms, and stands up as if nothing happened.
"What the heck just happened?" Louis says, looking from Mus to me.
"Are you okay?" I ask Mus, getting up as well. She nods her head, and heads toward the receptionist.
"She is a weird person," Louis whispers. I nod my head, replaying what just happened in my mind. Mus looked like she was in excruciating pain, and I'm sure she was because she fell. That is definitely not something a healthy or normal person does on a daily basis. Something's wrong with her. Either she's not telling me or she doesn't know herself.
******
"Where's Mus?" Louis says, as he heads toward me.
"After you left for the bathroom, she too, headed towards the bathroom. I offered to escort her, but she doesn't want me to." I explain as Louis takes a seat beside me. He pouts, and scrunches his eyebrows.
"I didn't see her near the bathrooms," Louis says.
"She must have gone to some other bathroom. Chill." Even though, I'm trying to assure Louis that Mus will be okay, I'm not convinced myself. Right now, Mus' state of mind is highly fragile, and I bet she'll do something stupid.
"Why is she so upset?" Louis asks me, interrupting my train of thoughts.
"Because she's blaming herself for Josh's condition." I say, sighing at her stupidity.
"That's bizarre." I nod my head, agreeing with Louis. It is bizarre, but who will explain that to Mus. Once she sets her mind on something, nobody can sway her.
"Harry, you did beat him up pretty badly." Louis says.
"I know, but I don't feel the least bit upset or sorry because Josh deserves this. He raised a hand on Mus. Karma is a bitch." Louis raises an eyebrow at me, questioningly.
"You beat Mus up, too." Louis says, matter-of-factly.
"That was different. At least, I feel bad about that till today. I bet Josh has no regrets." I defend myself. Suddenly, there's a huge commotion near the entrance of the hall. Doctors and nurses rush to and fro, and a stretcher is wheeled towards the emergency room.
"I don't know why people try to commit suicide. Don't they have any consideration about their life?" A nurse says, taking a seat beside us. Another nurse sits next to Louis, and he smiles at her. Flirt.
"I agree. We see so many patients in these hallways that would give up anything for another week, heck, another day," she says. "And here we have these youngsters, who don't understand the value of life." The woman scoffs, and shakes her head.
"I mean take that girl, for example, who was just wheeled into the emergency room. All she was muttering is it's my fault, it's my fault. I bet she just broke up with her boyfriend, and she's taken such a big step." I think I know where Mus is. Getting up, I run towards the emergency room.
