"Now we're doing it," Dr. Ross says. "Are you sure?" I nod my head, not opening my eyes. I want this. I want peace for myself and others around me.
It's not going to hurt one bit, Ross had said barely ten minutes ago. I trust him enough to know that he won't make false promises to me. He said it's not going to hurt and it will not.
"Okay, Mus. We've removed the drips and anything else that would help you. The affect of the medicines that are currently flowing through your body will wear off in a day or two. However, you must keep your oxygen tube on your nose at all times. Okay?" I nod my head.
"I'll be fine, right?" I say, just as Ross is about to leave.
"Of course! Like I said before, you will not feel a thing." Saying this, Ross exits the room, leaving me all alone. Since Harry is not with me right now, I deemed it the best time to remove all of the drips and get ready for dying. Dying. I wasn't scared of death before, but now I am. Where will I go after this? There's no place better for me than Harry's side. So I know that I won't enjoy my time up there. I don't even know if I'll function anymore. Will I be able to move? Feel? So many unanswered questions whose answers I'll be receiving soon.
"We're here!" Louis sings, entering my room. He walks into my room with a huge teddy bear in his arms, and a bouquet. Niall, and Liam follow suit. I hope Harry's not here. He will realize something's wrong immediately.
"Is Harry here?" I ask them. Louis places the flowers on the table and brings the teddy bear toward me.
"Nice to see you too and no, he isn't." Louis says, placing the teddy on my stomach.
"Where are your drip things?" Niall says, looking around me.
"The d-doctor said that I don't need them anymore. I'm a strong girl, you know?" I say, smiling at them and playing with the teddy's arms. A look passes through the three of them and then they turn to face me, eyebrows raised.
"What?" I say, innocently.
"How stupid do you think we are?" Louis says, placing his hands on his hips.
"On a scale from one to ten..." I raise my eyes toward the ceiling, as if I'm pondering over the fact.
"Very funny," Liam says. "Seriously, Mus, why did the doc remove all of your drips?"
"If I tell you, don't tell Harry. You all have to pinky swear not to tell him." They look at each other uncertainly.
"Mus, what are you hiding from Hazza?" Louis says, taking a seat beside me, on the stool.
"I've decided to...wait." How do I tell them? "The doctor says that theirs no hope for me, so he suggested that I end my suffering and get off all of the drips and medications." I'm too cowardly to look up and take in their expressions, so I keep playing with my hands.
"What?!" Liam exclaims. Timidly I look up at him; he's pacing back and forth near the door. "Docs are supposed to save lives, not kill people." I sigh, passing my fingers through my hair.
"Liam...he's doing what's best for me. I rather end this suffering right now than later." And yours, I mentally add.
"Mus, miracles happen. We should prolong this till the last minute, okay? Louis, let's go and tell him that she's changed her mind. It's not too late to rectify the situation."
"No!" I exclaim. "Liam, this is not your choice to make. It's mine, and I have made my decision."
"Fine! If you want to die, then I'm not going to help you." Liam throws the stuffed panda that he was holding on the floor and exits the room; slamming the door behind him. I pinch the bridge of my nose with my fingers. I didn't expect Liam to understand. Heck, I don't expect any of them to understand my decision. However, I didn't even expect Liam to get so mad at me for deciding to end my own life.
"Mus...please understand. This time is tough for all of us." Louis says, smiling sheepishly at me. I nod my head, giving him a small smile.
"I do. Liam's reaction was...expected." I say. Niall picks up the stuffed panda that Liam threw on the floor and walks toward me. Niall has his own stuff toy in his arms; a dinosaur. He hands them both to me, smiling. I love Niall's happy-go-lucky attitude. It tends to lighten the situation at times like this.
"We've got more presents waiting in the car. Sorry, but we couldn't carry them all." Niall says, taking a seat on the floor, beside my bed. I pat the side of the bed, motioning for him to sit beside me, rather than on the floor. He shakes his head.
"When are you going to tell Harry?" Louis asks me.
"I don't know; never." I say. "He's going to freak out, worse than Liam."
"Yeah, but he has to know." Niall insists.
"C-Can we drop the subject?" I say, silently pleading them with my eyes. Louis and Niall nod their heads in unison.
"Anything for the princess." Louis says, and I laugh.
**********
"Shit!" Someone curses, and I hear something clatter to the ground. Groaning, I flutter my eyelids open; just to see who the heck is bothering my beauty sleep. Harry is bent over beside my bed, and he's doing something to the side of it. I turn my body toward him, and open my eyes fully.
"What are you doing, Harry?" I say, tucking my arms underneath my head. He looks up, surprised that I'm awake. Recovering from his shock, Harry smiles at me, and my heart skips a beat.
"You're awake! I didn't expect you to wake up for another hour at least." Harry says, getting up. He waves his hand around the room, and I furrow my brows. "Look around." I divert my eyes from Harry to the room. There are Frozen balloons, of Anna and Elsa, hanging from the ceiling. A cardboard cut out of Olaf is placed near the entrance. Snowflakes are hanging from the side of my bed, and some are hanging from the ceiling. I smile at the decor.
"What's all of this Harry?" I say, grinning. This is amazing. I love Frozen. It's childish and Zahra always calls me out for my love of cartoons. However, I still love them. Especially Lion King and Frozen.
"Well, I spoke with Darcy and she told me how you wanted a Frozen themed birthday." Harry says, taking a seat on the edge of my bed. He takes my hand in his, and rubs his thumb against it, soothingly. There's a but in his sentence that we both know of. The but is that, I might not be able to live long enough to celebrate my birthday. "So I decided to fulfill your wish and decorate this whole room with Frozen items." I glance around the room one more time and this time my eyes land on the floor. It's covered with a sheet of white, or maybe cotton. Fake footprints have been made on the white sheet and they seem like the snow monster's.
"Harry...this is so good. Thank you," I say. I squeeze his hand and his grins widens. Harry bends down and grabs something with his free hand.
"Here," Harry says. He hands me a bag that has all of the Frozen characters on it. "Your goody-bag." Eagerly, I untie the silver ribbon and dig into the bag.
