dan howell was intrigued.
intrigued by the new (and cute) black haired, light eyed boy that now sat in front of him in his english class.
dan couldn't help but just stare at the back of his head, at his hair. while he was suppose to be paying attention, he mindlessly wondered what it would feel like to run his fingers through it. of course, he didn't though. no need for another person to think he's a freak.
that's what he's thought of at his school. even though nobody has ever actually seen him cry, so they can't determine what he's like by tears, he just has that sad aura surrounding him, radiating off of him. his tired eyes. his dark attitude. his avoidance of talking to people didn't help much either.
dan howell decided to then do what he normally did when he found any sort of random attraction to someone.
hang his head low and admire from afar.
despite dan being considered overly different, he still had some good friends that he laughed and joked around with. yes, he was always seemingly sad, but everyone has their better days.
dan's better days were always with his friend, louise. they sat together at lunch, walked side by side in the halls, and hung out on weekends. she was dans oasis, his temporary jailbreak from sadness. she was there for him.
she was the one person who understood the concept of not being able to control sadness. the only person that really looked into dan, past the wrecked outside. the only person to give him a chance. the only person to let the sad boy be her friend.
they instantly clicked together anyways. like it was meant for them to be best friends. dan couldn't be more satisfied with her.
as dan was now completely lost in a spiral of thoughts about his beloved louise, he didn't notice the boy in front of him turn around and ask him a question.
"do you eat out stencils?"
dan's eyes widened at the boy in front of him. he choked out a small stutter.
"wh-what?"
he raised his eyebrow at dan. slightly annoyed at this point, he repeated his question.
"do you have a pencil?"
dan immediately had to bite back a small laugh. eat out a stencil? how would that even work?
he gave the blue eyed boy a shy smile and nodded, reaching into his bag and digging around before feeling a pencil at the bottom. he'd handed it to him, slightly smiling once more before looking down at his lap, twiddling his thumbs.
you'd now expect the boy to have turned back around by now, but he hadn't. he hadn't taken his eyes off dan, and dan knew it as well.
what does he want?
dan lightly coughed, making slight eye contact with the boy, as if saying, 'im slightly aroused yet uncomfortable with that stare of yours. mind turning back around?'
he had seemed to have gotten the message, but just before he turned back around he grinned at dan and whispered,
"thanks. im phil."
dan smiled nervously, before whispering back. "y-yeah! i-im dan."
phil couldn't help but smile at the boys general cuteness. he was good looking, that was a fact.
but he was also different.
strange.
but a good kind of strange. in phil's eyes, strange was a good thing. normal was boring. why be like everyone else around you, when instead you can just feel unique and special in your own way?
phil then turned back around, now paying attention to his class.
dan howell, however, was a completely different story.
