Hi!

So once again, not much happens in this chapter, but the main focus is how much of the cancer is beginning to affect Gwen and her life.

So lately I've been updating multiple times a day but sadly, updates won't be quite as frequent anymore, because I go back to school tomorrow. ;( I promise to still update often, but it won't be quite as much.

This song is Unconditional by Katy Perry and I hope you like it!

Please read and tell me your thoughts!

Chapter 17...

Peter wasn't aware of how long they stayed like that, snuggled up in each others arms. It felt like mere minutes, but he knew it had to have been hours.

"Hey, Gwen, it's time for dinner, and-" Mrs. stacy came into the room, "Oh, hello, Peter."

"It's nice to see you Mrs. Stacy," Peter said, feeling very uncomfortable.

"It's dinner time," Mrs. Stacy motioned behind her, towards the dining room. "Why don't you join us? We have extra."

"Oh, um I don't know...." Peter said, but Gwen cut him off.

"Please, stay, Peter," She begged.

He smiled, and looked back up at Mrs. Stacy, "Yeah, I'd love to stay."

Soon they were all gathered around the long wooden dinner table- Mrs. Stacy, Peter, Gwen, and her three brothers, Philip, Howard, and Simon.

"So Peter," Mrs. Stacy said as she served and passed around the food, "What have you been up to lately?"

"Oh, you know, mostly looking for colleges," Peter said.

"Yes, of course," She then turned her head, "Oh, Simon! Use your napkin, don't wipe your hands on your pants!"

Peter stiffled a laugh as Gwen bit back a smile.

"Hey, Mom!" Howard spoke up, "Did you see the newspapers today?"

"Yes I did," She said, and looked down. "It's scary to think of how much danger and evil that has been going on in this city"

Gwen looked over at Peter, who had his head down and was picking at his food with his fork.

"But I bet Spiderman can stop it!" Howard said, excitement clear in his voice. "He can do anything."

Mrs. Stacy gave her son a look, "Howard, don't exaggerate. Besides, the police are more than capable."

"Please don't say anything, Peter." Gwen thought to herself, remembering the disastrous first dinner her family had shared with Peter, and the arguement that had broken out between her father and him.

Instead of Peter saying anything, Howard did, but this time, he addressed Peter. "I saw the picture you took in the newspaper, the one of Spiderman. It was amazing!"

"Oh, um, thanks for the...praise." Peter said, awkwardly.

"How close were you to him? He looked like he was right next to you-"

"Howard!" Mrs. Stacy scolded, "Don't plague Peter with questions."

"Oh, no, it's fine," Peter said, and turned to Howard. "I wasn't very close, I used a long lens. Sadly, him being right next to me is as possible as me being Spiderman, can you imagaine that?" Peter chuckled.

Howard laughed, and even Mrs. Stacy cracked a smile. "Yeah, not very likely at all."

But when Peter looked over at Gwen his smile instantly vanished, "Gwen." He said, and got of his chair to go over to her. "Gwen, what's wrong?"

She had her head in her hands, a look of pain apparent on her face. She shook her head, "My head hurts...."

He softly put a hand to her forehead, "Do you want to go lay down?"

Gwen could only nod. She started to stand up when Peter stopped her. "No, what do you think you're doing?"

"Um...standing?"

Peter grinned, "No, you are in no condition for that." He said and picked her up, beginning to carry her bridal style.

Gwen rolled her eyes, but he could see the happiness plain in her eyes.

"I'll come check on you later, darling." Mrs. Stacy said, and Gwen nodded in response.

He softly laid her down and planted a soft kiss on her lips. "I'll come and see you tomorrow, alright?"

She nodded, and slowly closed her eyes, becoming lured into sleep.

"I love you," Peter said before getting up and exiting the room, smiling at his sleeping girlfriend.
