"Attention, New York City," the news announcer spoke to the camera. "The Green Goblin has one again fled, along with Spidermam. We have begun investigating but so far have not found traces of either."

"Pe ter," Gwen said quietly as she watched from the T.V.

"Peter?" MJ questioned, turning towards her friend.

"Oh, um," Gwen said, angry at herself for practically blowing his cover. "I mean, Peter's taken several photos of Spiderman, he probably has some clues of his whereabouts."

Mrs. Stact nodded, but MJ eyed her suspiciously. "I'm going to call him," Gwen said and left the room. 

She began to press in Peter's numbers, but his voicemail only showed up. Tears began blurring in her eyes, but she hastitly wiped them away. She walked back into the living room where MJ and her mother were still seated. "I'm going to see Peter." Gwen announced and grabbed her jacket, before being stopped by her mom.

"I don't think so," her mother said. "There was just a huge fight. Do you honestly think I am going to let you go out?"

Gwen groaned. "Please, underatand, I'll have my phone on at all times. I'm only going to Peter's house.  I need to see him, Mom."

"Gwen..." Her mother said and began going on and on about the importance of safety and how dangerous the streets were and...

"Mj...." Gwen said, and looked at her friend pleadingly.

"Let her go," Mj spoke up. "I'm sure Gwen knows what she's doing, and will be able to contact us if anything happens."

Mrs. Stacy sighed, before reluctantly saying, "Fine. But be careful. And don't ignore any of my calls-"

"Yes, I promise," Gwen said and turned around to leave. She mouth a quick thank-you to Mj before beginning her search for Peter.

She couldn't find him anywhere. Gwen had gone to his house first, but just as she had expected, he wasn't there.  Groaning, she then made her way to where the news had reported the fight to have been, but it wasn't too specifc. She looked behind alleyways and behind corners. Just from the distant photos she could tell the fight had been rough and hard, and she knew Peter was likely injured.

Her stomach turned at the thought. She knew Peter was Spiderman, and he had gotten sick many times before, but she couldn't help but feel nervous. She knew there was a very good chance Peter was badly hurt, and she had know idea what she would do if that happened. Gwen knew she was going to die, but she couldn't let Peter...

Gwen arrived at downtown New York, and saw news reporters, along with detectives, blocking off a piece of the area. She went up to them, "Hi, I'm Gwen Stacy, may I please investigate along with you?"

The officer grunted, "Absolutely not. Officers only."

She smiled, "No, you don't understand. I am Gwen Stacy., my dad was Captain George Stacy...."

"So?"

Gwen had to restrain herself from rolling her eyes, "So because he was such a dedicated member of the police force it would only be proper if you let  me in."

The man groaned and opned his mouth to say something before an officer behind him said, "Just let the woman in. There's no danger now." 

"Thank you," Gwen said and went over the barrier. She knew if Peter was injured, he wouldn't be laying out in the open. She began looking for something, anything, but there was nothing, not a clue. 

Until she spotted something familiar. It was a piece of webbed red fabric. A piece of Peter's mask that must have broken off during the fight. Gwen turned and looked behind her, but nobody was watching what she was doing. They were too busy looking at a deep hole that had somehow formed in the ground. 

She carefully slipped it into her coat pocket and began calling around, quietly so the police wouldn't hear her, but loud enough Peter could. "Peter!"

No anwser.

Gwen tried again, "Peter."

But there was nothing. Only the sound of silence.
