Peter made his way out of the Oscorp building literally seconds before the police and repoters showed up. He grabbed his phone out of his bag and quickly called Gwen. 

Instead of a nice hello, Gwen practically yelled, "Peter! What the heck is going in?!"

"What do you mean?" Peter said as he began scaling a building.

"What do you mean? Seriously?" Gwen said. "It's all over the news. Green Goblin broke into Oscorp earlier and you were seen leaving the building."

Crap.

"Peter!" Gwen shrieked. "Anwser me! What happened!"

He sighed, "Gwen, call down, alright? Everything is okay. I went to Oscorp this morning and Green Goblin showed up. We got in a fight, but I'm fine."

"Why were you at Oscorp?" Gwen questioned. Peter remained silent. "Peter...."

"Look, no reason at all. Just looking for clues." Peter said. He didn't want to tell her how he had been loooking for a cure for her, and how he had broken down when nothing he did seemed to work. She didn't need to hear any of that.

Gwen sighed, "Peter, I'm sorry, it's just, Aunt May called this morning and said how you just left. I'm nervous for you."

"Oh, Gwen," Peter said, wishing he could give her a hug and kiss her. "Don't worry about me, alright?"

"It's hard," she responed.

"I'm so sorry." Peter said. "Alright, I have a really good lead that I don't have time to explain right now, but do not worry. I love you."

"I love you too, Peter." Gwen said and Peter ended the call as he began making his way into the sewers.

Peter finally manged to find the sewer area where Dr. Connors had all  of his research set up. His computers, old recordings, files, all of it was still here. Untouched since the last time Peter had been investigating here. 

He looked for clues on Dr. Connors. If he was giving Harry advice on how to be the Goblin and telling him facts, Peter thought the best idea was to instead look at some of Dr. Connors old things. Something here had to point to a clue. 

Peter went through every single file he had. He pulled out different boxes of different photographs. He went through all the different expirements and equation profiles the doctor had been working on, but nothing, absolutely nothing, would be of any use to Harry.  Peter even rewatched the creepy video the doctor had made of himself turning into the Lizard, but he still couldn't find anything. 

"Why can't this just end now?" Peter thought. "Why can't Gwen be cured? Why does Harry have to be Green Goblin? Why can't I simply stay happy all the time? Why can't Gwen be happy with me?"

All kinds of thoughts whirled around inside Peter's head as he continued looking through everything. Then he saw something that caught his eye. 

It was the crushed remains of a camera. His camera. When Peter had first started tracking the Lizard, he had put up cameras all around the sewer walls, hoping to flash a few pictures. When he had to make a quick escape however, he had left them here. 

Peter picked it up. It was obviously ruined and couldn't work, and Peter found it odd the doctor had even bothered to keep it.

He shrugged and just as he was about to put it down, he saw something.

PROPERTY OF PETER PARKER. 

Peter wanted to kill himself for labeling his camera. Sure, he thought at the time he was being careful and helping himself, but he was only causing more trouble down the road. 

Then a troubling thought him so hard he stepped back "No," Peter quietly, before getting louder. "No, no!"

Doctor Connors had found his camera and realized he was Spiderman. The Goblin's voice echoed inside of Peter's head. 

"Well, I've grown close to Doctor Connors these past few weeks. Told me a lot about you."

Peter wanted to tell himself that Doctor Connors wouldn't do something that horrible, but the rational side of Peter knew. Connors had nothing to lose, why wouldn't he say something about Peter being Spiderman to Harry?

"No," Peter repeated.

"Everyone you love most will always be in danger."

He could almost see the Goblin's evil smirk.
