Chapter 8

Blairs P.O.V
When we come out of the water it's because Jim called and needed Nathan. Gabbie stares me down and I play innocent as I sit on the towel beside her. " what the hell was that?" She asks. " what do you mean?" I ask. " oh I don't know the man you were swimming with in the ocean!" She says. " that was Nathan" I say. " I got that smart one, I mean why is he here shouldn't he be in Therapy or something? She asks. " he is at candle light of his own free will"  I explain."Blair I don't have a great feeling about this he is older and in rehab for Gods sake, what are you doing with him?" She asks " calm the heck down Gab, I know what I'm doing and that's having fun for once in my life." I say. She sighs and nods her head. " your mom is not gonna like this." She says " I don't care and since when do you?" I ask. " I don't I was just stating a fact" she says. " well I don't plan on her finding out and if she does  well I just I don't care." I say. " wow Blair this is a whole new you." She says. I nod my head and walk to my jeep. I drive home singing and happy. My phone beeps and I see a unfamiliar number. "hey it's Nathan I put my number in your phone before you left." I smile and text him back a quick okay. I go home and flop down on my bed and sigh. My heart beats fast just thinking about him.
   My mom calls me down for dinner a hour later. " Blair how was your day?" she asks politely. I smile remembering Nathan. " it was alright" I down play. "that's good dear" she says sounding distracted. " mom?" I ask.  " yeah" she answers. " never mind, may I be excused?" I ask. " yeah but before you do I have something to tell you." She says. " okay?" I reply. " two things actually. She says. First your dad and  Ginger are getting married she is pregnant. Second Jim asked me on a date and I agreed." She says rather quickly. I sit there stunned. I'm going to have a half brother or sister? And a step mom? Who is three years older than me. My mom has a date with Jim form the rehab. I'll stick with the more simple topic. " Jim asked you out?" I ask. " yeah it was rather the shock but he is a handsome man and I need to move on from your father." She says. "are you sure this isn't about dad getting married and having a baby?" I ask. She shakes her head. " alright" I say. I kiss her forehead like I used to when I was younger. She smiles and then walks into her room and shuts the door. Yeah this has got to her. It's got to me too.
     I fall asleep to the sound of my mother crying and I let myself cry too. For my wrecked family and the innocent baby being brought In this  harsh world.
