"Emily. You need to stop apoligizing for things that aren't your fault. I just want you to know that I will be finding out who did this, and I won't stop until I do." He spoke coldly, trying to keep himself under control, but I could tell it was getting hard.

"Bret, please don't. It's no big deal, I'm here now, and I'm just fine. My leg will heal, and everything will go back to the way it was, I swear." I was shaking a little, nervous of his reaction. I wanted to take most of the words that had just left my mouth, and erase them from all eternity.

"When will you realise that they won't stop, until someone puts a stop to it? It is a big deal! She could have killed you! You were pushed down a whole flight of stairs, and who knows what would have happened if you hit your head! I'm finding them first thing Monday morning, and don't think about stopping me because you can't." His eyes looked different, like he was just screaming inside. I knew he was holding back.. Basically everything. He knows how I get when he is upset.

I didn't notice that a single tear ran down my face, and that I was breathing heavily until he came and sat beside me. "Listen, I'm not going to hurt her, okay? You know that I would ever hit a girl, ecpecially you. I will hurt them if there was boys behind it, that planned it. Then they will get their ass kicked." I buried my head into his chest, as he rubbed my back. I didn't want him to do anything about it, but I knew if I spoke another word.. Well.. That is pretty self explanitory.

"Shh, Em, it's okay. You're alright now, and I won't leave your side. I promise." He kissed my forehead, and it felt asthough a lightning bolt just shot through my body, and I sucked in a breath. He has never done that for as long as I have known him. It was incredible.

I ended up drifting to sleep, as him rubbing my back was very soothing, and made me forget that I could have died. Right before I finally fell into a well needed rest, he whispered to me, possibly thinking that I was asleep. "I love you, Emily." Then, he let his head rest on mine, and we fell asleep, not wanting the next day to come, but wanting this moment, right here, to last forever.
