"I don't even know why you have those, Em. It's not like you use them anyway." Bret said, looking down at my crutches as we walked through the park. "Unless I'm going a short distance then I don't use them, but we've been walking around quite a lot, so I need them." I replied, looking up at the trees that are starting to have less leaves. "Are you tired? There's a bench right over there, we can sit if you want." He stated, pointing down the path to a bench not far down. "Yeah, sure." I smiled, and off we went.
We got to the bench and I plopped down, and placed my crutches on the ground. "Finally." I sighed, and lay back. "If you were really that tired, you could have said something earlier, and we could have sat down." He chuckled, and I muttered a soft, 'no big deal', and we started talking again.
All was good and calm until I heard..them. Of course. They can't just leave me, or Bret alone. Great.
"Bret? Can we go? It's getting chilly, and I really want to lay down." I tried to not sound worried, but I couldn't help it. I heard them coming closer, and I just wanted to drag Bret with me.
"But I think it's good for you to get out, you know? To be out of the house?" I pointed behind him, and he turned around.
"Shit." He muttered. "Emily go to the car."
"What?" I said, in disbelief.
"Get. To. The. Car."
"Are you insane? Do you honestly think I'm going to leave you here with these assholes?" Too loud.
"Look what we have here, again. Did you come back for more baby?" Drew smirked, and started walking towards us, and Bret quickly stood up. "Look." He held up his hand to stop Drew from coming any further. "We don't want any trouble, her and I didn't do anything to you guys, so why don't you just go, and leave her alone." Drew's smirk only became wider.
"You see.. We can't do that. I know Emily wants me, but you're always in the way." He peeked from in front of Bret, and winked at me. I became highly insecure in a blink of an eye. I don't understand why he's playing this game.
"Emily would never want you, you ignorant fuck." At that moment, Drew shoved Bret on the chest. "You don't know that.. Besides, what are you going to do about it?" Bret looked down at his chest, and then back up to Drew.. Then, he just tackled him right to the ground.
"Bret! Stop! Knock it off, he isn't worth it!" I got up, and tried to pry Bret off of him, but it was no use.
What did I get myself into?
