After TWS:

Bucky had been living with Steve for a couple of months now, and you took it upon yourself to check up on them every-now-and-again. If every-now-and-again meant at least once a day.

You had left them alone for two days once. The key word there being once. The whole experience was too traumatic to explain in full but it involved whipped cream, Steve's shield, balloons and a horse.

*knock knock knock* you waited patiently outside their apartment door, complete with scratches, stains and bullet holes. Yup, just your standard apartment door.

The door swung open and you were greeted by Steve, dark circles had formed under his eyes from lack of sleep, and as if to confirm your theory his mouth contorted into a yawn.

"I'm sorry (y/n), come in" you smiled as Steve stepped aside, his arm outstretched like you were a princess at a ball. Steve always was a gentleman.

"Don't be sorry Steve, it's fine. Hey Bucky!" you walked over to the worn red sofa where Bucky was watching Beauty and the Beast. You had lent him your entire DVD collection, including most of the Disney classics, for him to catch up on society and culture. He was at the part where Belle trades herself for her father, he was transfixed by what was happening as his head was in his hands and his eyes had glazed over.

"Hmmm..." he mumbled, clearly uninterested by you, but you still proceeded to sit next to him. You knew it was unwise to interrupt him any further so you two just sat down and finished the movie together. Not a word was exchanged between you two and you were so focused on the movie you barely noticed Steve leaving the apartment.

"So?" you questioned as you ejected the disc, lifting yourself off the sofa to go retrieve it, "What did you think?" you placed the disc back in its case and shut it with a satisfying click.

"It was...Strange." he portrayed no emotion as he spoke, you found he was rather good at that.

"Really, just strange?" you tried to get more of a response out of him, his body language didn't give anything away either, he was just staring at you with those blank, unnerving eyes.

"Well, he kidnapped her father, then her, proceeded to be very rude and suddenly they're in love? It's all very confusing, how could the prettiest woman in the village fall for the most arrogant, mean, self-absorbed monster?" Bucky contemplated as he lifted his tired body off the sofa, his eyes avoiding yours.

"You mean prince. He's a prince and he was all those things until Belle saw the goodness in him and they fell in love, either that or she fell in love with him because he is loaded, I mean that library was huge!" you laughed nervously, trying to lighten the mood a little. Bucky grumbled, ruffling his hair to get it out of his eyes. Steve told you that Bucky once had this amazing smile that would light up a room, and ladies would flock to him in their hundreds just to see this spectacle.

You hadn't seen Bucky smile.

"Do you think I'll ever find true love?" your (e/c) eyes widened in shock, meeting his icy blues, which almost looked innocent. How do you answer a question like this?

"Of course Buck, everyone has a special someone, all you need to do is find them. It may take days, weeks-"

"-It's not supposed to take 99 years" his eyes broke away, glancing down at the floor before he turned and began to stroll out of the room.

"Bucky. Bucky wait!" you called after him, your voice raising slightly. You wondered whether you had angered him as he stopped dead in his tracks and didn't turn around.

"There is someone out there for you Bucky, you're a sweet, caring, interesting and admittedly not-that bad-looking guy, just like a prince, and you will get your happily ever after. If anyone deserves it it's you." you let out a long sigh when you finished, you didn't mean to say all of that, it just sort of came out in a flurry of emotion and words. Bucky still hadn't turned around.

"Thanks..." he whispered, almost inaudibly, before quietly walking out of the room. You hoped that Bucky really would find someone to spend his life with, he really deserved some stability in his life.

Steve told you about how good he was with the ladies, but he never could settle down. And now it was harder for him than ever.

It was then you noticed a solitary, salty, tear rolling down your flushed cheek, quickly you wiped it away with your sleeve. You meant what you said, and perhaps you'll be there when he finds true love.
