So sorry I haven't been updating lately and I'm even sorrier if I forgot to write someone's request when I was on hiatus. Please forgive me and message me if that's the case as I don't want anyone to miss out because I'm trash. x

Amongst the crowd of people you pick out a few familiar faces and squeeze your way over to them, almost getting knocked over by a few over-enthusiastic dancers. You grin widely as Natasha pulls you into a tight hug screaming "(y/n) you look amazing!" into your ear. When she finally released you from her cobra-like grip you are free to greet the other Avengers.

"Good to see you (y/n)!" comes from a bustle of people.

"Thanks Tony, you too!" you stand on your tip toes to see Tony in the centre of the madness and you can't help but grin.

"Have you seen this new tiktok where this guy is dressed as Lisa Simpson and is screaming Hit or Miss?!" Peter slides in front of you, grabbing his phone out of his pocket.

"Don't be stupid Spiderboy." Shuri playful shoves him out of the way. "Of course the meme master (y/n) has seen it." she sends a wink your way.

"Well, duh." you nonchalantly respond, causing Shuri to flash an 'I-told-you-so' look his way.

"I'm glad you could make it (y/n)." Steve pats you on the shoulder and hands you a drink. "I thought you'd enjoy this more than I would." there's a momentary flash of sadness in his eyes but it's soon replaced by the glare of the strobe lights.

"Thanks Steve, I wouldn't miss a chance to see you guys for the world."  you beam, but your smile soon falters as your eyes meet the other supersoldier's. 

"(y/n)." he coldly states, lifting his drink to his lips and taking a gulp. This was just so typical of him, he was blunt with everyone but he was particularly rude to you. What made it worse is that you had no idea why.

"Nice to see you too Bucky." no sooner had you spoke you turned back to Natasha. You had come out to enjoy yourself and you weren't going to let Bucky spoil your night. The sad thing was if he treated you a little bit nicer you could easily see yourself becoming good friends, or maybe even more.

"(y/n), you coming or not?!" Wanda shouts, waking you out of your trance, dragging Natasha and Shuri with her onto the dance-floor. 

"In a minute!" you call back, wanting to get another drink first before embarrassing yourself. Before you had even had a drop you come face-to-face with Mr Happy himself.

"Enjoying the party?" you try to strike up a reasonable conversation but it was quickly shut down by a dis-interested shrug and an "I guess." your eyes fall to the floor. Suddenly it felt like the music had died and the world was in slow motion.

"Why did you even come today?"  you had expected for him to remain silent and then you could slink away, back to the party, so his question caught you off-guard.

You compose yourself before calmly asserting "I came to see my friends and have a good time, neither of which I am doing now so if you excuse me-". You take one step forward before a cool metal hand grabs your arm.

"What is your deal?!" you'd tried to have a normal conversation with the man but he was having none of it. Your blood started to boil.

"What's my deal?! What the hell is your deal?!" you yank his hand off of your arm "I've tried to connect with you but it's like you've judged me before you've even had a chance to get to know me!" you take a deep breath before continuing with the same intensity but a lower voice "Do you even have any emotions?"
