This is based off prompt 2) "What about that one? That one looks cute." I hope you enjoy :)
P.S (f/ca) means your favourite cafe

"No." Bucky shut me down, no emotion was hinted in his voice. All you'd wanted to do was take him clothes shopping, was that so bad? Did you offend him? You look down at your hands, afraid to meet his cold stare.
"-I-I'm sorry, I thought I'd ask, I'm stupid. Sorry." you weren't wanted here, you were so idiotic. He's got too much to think about and now he thinks he needs a make-over? Well done you, well done.
"Not without my jacket." Bucky finished his sentence. Your entire body froze.
"Does that mean we can go shopping?!" you jump excitedly at the thought, you could get him a suit, a really handsome one, you could eat out at (f/ca) and talk about stuff a-
"Yes, yes, don't get carried away!" you tune back into reality to focus on an amused and giddy Bucky, did you just say that out-loud? Whoops.

Walking down the crowded Manhattan streets you noticed how Bucky would analyse everyone's faces and note every exit, every alley and anything out of the ordinary. But it comforted you that he was at least outside with other people, even if he was uncomfortable and oh dear lord where did he go?
You spin around trying to spot him, with no luck "Watch where you're going" a business man in a suit scolded you while others looked annoyed and mentally swore at you. "Sorry." you said sarcastically under your breath as you continued along the street alone until you heard his voice, even amongst hundreds of others you could always hear his soothing voice which HYDRA robbed him of. He appeared to be talking to a group of teenagers a couple of meters away so you rushed over to them.
"-So don't EVER talk to her like that again? You hear?" on closer inspection Bucky had grabbed one of the teenage boys by the collar and was proceeding to threaten him, the boy nodded and hurriedly sprinted away with his group of friends. Bucky had some explaining to do.

It turns out that Bucky had noticed the teenagers insulting a trans woman who came up and thanked him after they had ran off. You were so proud of Bucky, he truly was a hero. But he still insisted that it's what everyone would've done and he was only standing up for what was right.
"The world of tomorrow, a greater world, a better world... That's what we were promised." Bucky was sorting through a railing, looking for new tops. That sentence sounded important, it sounded like he had heard it before but you had no idea where.
"Well, if it makes a difference you make the world a better place." that sounded so cheesy; you physically cringed after you said it, so much so that you tried to change the topic rapidly, hoping that he would forget about it.
"What about that one? That one looks cute." you picked out a navy blue top with a pocket which had a small white dog embroidered onto it, lifting it up so he could see. He chuckled, grabbing the top off you before placing it back onto the railing.
"You know what else looks cute?" you felt his arms wrap around you, pulling you into a cuddly, warm hug.
"You." you sighed heavily into his shirt. That was so predictable. So cheesy. So cringe worthy, yet so adorable. You could have stayed like that all day, his heart lulling you into a state of drowsiness, his warm breath lifting the hairs on the back of your neck and his strong arms wrapped protectively around you. But alas you had shopping to get on with.
"Smooth." you grinned, pulling away from the hug and quickly getting back to business. He looked hurt for a second, but it was quickly replaced with understanding.
"How about you look for what clothes you're interested in?" Bucky rubbed the back of his neck with his metal hand, a habit which told you that he was thinking hard.
"To be honest (y/n) I don't know what clothes I liked, for years I wore HYDRA's straight jacket and now I just wear Sam and Steve's old stuff..." he was robbed of such simple things, you'd never thought about how he did nothing for himself in over 70 years. Out of instinct you grabbed Bucky's spare hand and squeezed it tight, dragging him to another part of the store.
"Don't worry then Buck, you can discover what clothes you like!" and with that you whisked him away.

Hours of Bucky cussing while trying not to rip tops, bumping into old ladies and apologising profusely and trying to convince Bucky that "Yes, those trousers do go with that top" and "You shouldn't buy that crop top just because it has SWAG written on it." passed.
The streets were beginning to empty and close down for the day, and what a day it had been, it was a huge success for both of you, Bucky had acquired a whole new wardrobe (which he was struggling to hold in several plastic bags) and you had also found a (f/c) top in your size with an awesome flower pattern on it. But that wasn't the best part, the best part was spending the entire day with Bucky and seeing him interact with people around him, yes he still was shy, and yes he did get some insults or disapproving glances here and there because, well, you know why...
"-and that's how Steve ended up falling face first down two flights of stairs!" you snapped back into reality, you'd just missed Bucky telling a childhood story and you felt terrible as he didn't open up much, or remember much about his past, so you just chuckled along with him.
"And Sally Turner's face, what a sight! She came runnin' along all giddy like and when she saw Stevie there her face turned the brightest shade of green and she went runnin' back home!" you could see the light that washed over Bucky's body, illuminating his face, making him look like an excited child again. You felt like this could of happened two days ago, not 70 years.
"And that's not the best part, you wanna know what the best part was?" Bucky looked down at you and you shook your head in reply.
"Steve promised me that that was the last time he would do anything stupid. Heh, little did I know it was only really the beginning..." you felt the air around you become colder and you felt Bucky become more distant, you wanted to brighten the mood a little but you had just reached the Avenger's tower, where you both lived.
"Look (y/n) I had a great time today, I haven't felt that comfortable around anyone other than Steve in a long time so maybe we can do this again?" you entered the top-secret pin into one of JARVIS's control panels as Bucky spoke. Your knees began to get weak and your heart started pumping like there was no tomorrow.
"Great, that sounds great... I really like you too and-and-" curse your stupid mouth, just when you had gotten comfortable you were reduced back to this nervous mess.
"And maybe we could visit (f/ca) sometime?" Bucky winked as he waddled into the reception with his pile of bags.
"See you tomorrow (y/n)!" Bucky called as he walked into the elevator.
"See you tomorrow Bucky." you spoke softly to no-one in particular, as Bucky was well out of earshot.
