"So your parents don't care that you're going to spend your whole spring break out late partying?"
"Nope," Jasmine flipped her long curly hair out of her eyes.
"Even if they're hosted by a bunch of college boys? They don't care?"
"Well, if you can't already tell, my parents are pretty easy going. They were willing to let me go to two 5sos concerts, one in Australia, and they let me out of the house like this," she gestured down to her somewhat risqué outfit as best she could while she was driving. I still can't believe that it's normal for eighteen year olds have cars in America. Lots of my friends haven't even gotten their license yet.
"Oh. Well that's cool. And Rachel's parents are the same?"
"Pretty much," Jaz smacked the bubblegum she was chewing loudly. "We're here," she announced as we pulled into the driveway of a suburban house similar to hers.
"Jasmine! You ready to take Lacey to Angela's?" Rachel squealed with enthusiasm when she met us in the driveway and hopped in the car. I'd noticed that she was pretty chirpy too, even if no one could top Jasmine."What's that?" I asked. I'd been told that we weren't going to any parties until later tonight.
"It's this vegan restaurant that Jaz and I love. We go there all the time for lunch, it's great," Rachel explained.
"Oh," I said. I wanted to strike u more of a conversation with the girl, especially for Jasmine's sake, but as always, I was really awkward meeting new people. Flashbacks came of the first few weeks that I had known Al and I almost had a cringe attack then and there.
"So um, how do you like America so far?" Jasmine asked breaking the awkward silence I'd created.
"Well, I don't know yet," I laughed, "I've kind of only seen the airport, your house, and your car."
"Don't worry, you'll be having way more fun by the end of the day if we have anything to do with it," I couldn't help but notice a playful, but devilish glint in Jasmine's eye. It was scary to have an outgoing friend like her.

After lunch, Rachel and Jasmine showed me around the city for a bit. I must admit, Miami is a beautiful city. We went shopping for awhile and just ind of goofed around 'till about five o'clock when Jasmine said we'd better head back to her house to get ready for the party.
"Why now? I thought you said Dylan or whatever this dude's name is wasn't starting the party 'till like, ten."
"Lacey, really, sometimes I forget you've never been out before," Jasmine said.
"Well I've been out of my house, idiot," I shoved her lightly as we were walking back to where her Jeep was parked.
"No, I mean like out out. We have to choose outfits, accessories, makeup, and then there's the actual process of getting ready and then of course dinner because I can't function without food but only after that can we finally get to Dylan's dorm room," she explained.
"Dorm room?" I asked. "Sounds sketchy."
"Yeah, we know. Dylan himself is actually just a huge douche that just throws parties in his dorm- well really the entire hallway- just so he thinks he's cool. No, but the reason we even go to his parties is because usually a lot of crazy stuff happens there," Rachel said with that same evil, hungry look that Jasmine gave me earlier. An expression like that really needs a name. The party girl look?
"And to meet college boys," Jasmine added to Jasmine's statement as she pulled into the driveway of her house. Her parent's car wasn't in the driveway like it was late last night, so I assumed they were still at work. The less new people for me, the better.
"Okay, let's get down to business," Jasmine gabbed all our shopping bags out of the back of the car and sauntered down her own driveway like some ind of professional stylist. I rolled my eyes at my cocky friend. If Jasmine was as enthusiastic about this dressing me up thing as she was about everything else, then maybe this really would take hours.

Rachel's POV

"Aaaand done!" Jasmine put the finishing touch on Lacey's dramatic eye makeup and stepped back to admire her work. I had to hand it to her, the little geeky t-shirt wearing Lacey actually looked like a supermodel. That midnight blue dress really went well with her dark hair and eyes, speaking of which Jasmine had adorned with flaring wings and glittery shadow. I'm not entirely sure the sparkles were Lacey's style, but she looked good in them either way.
"Oh my God, Jasmine," Lacey exclaimed when she got up to glance at herself in the full length mirror. "I look like I could actually function in a social environment! Than you so much!" And then they hugged.
It's not that I hated Lacey or anything like that, but her and Jasmine had been so clingy all day. I'm supposed to be Jasmine's best friend. Didn't she meet this chick over the internet? I guess I shouldn't worry about it too much. I have known Jasmine longer, haven't I? Yeah, things will be more normal when we go to the party tonight and actually have more to do than sit around and stare at each other.

End of Part 18.
I know it's extremely boring and I'm sorry. I do have a plan as to where this story is going and already have the ending planned out and everything, so don't worry about it being like this the whole rest of the book. I just don't have a lot of motivation to write this story right now since there's kind of a lull in the plot between now and when Lacey goes to the concert so I'm sorry Please don't stop reading, I'll give you a cookie. <3
I purchased The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire today. It was one of the greater moments in my life.
Have a nice day :)
