The girl from the contest finally started replying again. Way back in April when I had first contacted her and we'd exchanged numbers, I'd tried texting but there had been no response. I guess she was just busy. Whatever, it doesn't matter now. All that matters is that I've still got hopes of meeting Lacey Palmer again.

It's the beginning of July and we've been texting since June seventeenth which I guess was the beginning of summer. Yeah, if it's Lacey, she'd still be a junior in high school that sounds about right. Anyway, whoever this girl is, we've been learning a lot about each other all summer so far. She hasn't said anything else about the concert yet though, so I don't know if she managed to get tickets or not.

The problem with all of this though is that there's still the possibility that it's not Lacey. The thing with me is that I tend to always get my hopes up and get really excited, only to always have myself disappointed. It's gone that way with every girl I've dated since Lacey, we meet, I fall for her, and then she just turns out to be a total bitch. In my case, there've even been entire songs dedicated to a girls' hatred of me. It's a great confidence booster.

Not.

That's another reason I'm so careful to stay out of the media now. All the hate from ex girls. Between them and the 'fans' that think I'm just the ugly one, it gets hard to deal. That's why I have to find Lacey again. She never made me feel like that, and it was a mistake to let her get away from me. Why do my thoughts always circle back to Lacey?

"Hey, you okay mate?" Calum startled me out of my thoughts. He'd caught me mulling all of this over on the couch in our tour bus while we were driving through somewhere in the middle of America. I must've looked pretty strange just sitting there staring into space with the tv turned off.

"Yeah, fine," I answered him with my usual response.

"C'mon Michael, you've been so out of it lately. The shows aren't the same. What's up?" Calum persisted. I knew things were coming to this. So far, the band had pretty much left me alone in this dreamy state of mind I've been in lately, but I knew it was only a matter of time before they noticed and I'd have to come clean. I can't keep secrets from them. One, because it's basically impossible because they're so nosy and two, because these guys are like my brothers and they deserve to know everything, even if it was in the past.

I sighed and looked over at Calum who had sat down next to me on the couch. I was about to jump right into my explanation when-

"Hey, guys be quieter over there I'm trying to sleep," Luke's voice sounded muffled from one of the bottom bunks.

"It wasn't us bitch, the bus just went over a huge bump, that's what woke you up," Calum sassed him.

"Geez asshole, no need to get so defensive. What're you two blabbing about over there anyway?" Luke sassed Calum right back, getting up to join us now that he was fully awake.

"Oh well, Michael was just about to tell me-"

"That I am his bestest friend ever," Ashton finished Calum's sentence with a cheeky grin full of dimples as he made his way to the mini fridge to get some vegemite for his toast.

"No Ashton, I'm pretty sure that's not what he was gonna say," Calum rolled his eyes.

"Oh. Well if it's not, then I better stick around to see what Mikey is gonna tell us. It better be good if it's not that I'm your best friend," Ashton plopped down on the couch as well, munching on his vegemite with toast. I mean, toast with vegemite.

"Ugh, do I really need an entire audience for this," I leaned over and put my head between my knees in mock frustration.

"C'mon buddy, you can tell us anything," Luke smiled and patted me on the back. They were all still trying to be silly, but I really needed to be serious for a second.

"I would if you bastards would shut up for a second," after Calum firmly told them to be serious and reiterated that I actually was gonna tell them what was going on, Luke and Ashton finally stopped their shenanigans.

"Okay, so remember that art contest to win tickets to our shows that we did with Open Arms Charity?" They nodded. "Well, remember that really good drawing of fetus me and the girl with the brown hair that I couldn't stop staring at?"

"Yeah, the one we wanted to win but that other one with the girl in the window won," Luke said, recalling.

"Yeah, that one. And I called the charity and got the girl's email address?"

"I told you not to do that," Calum pointed out.

"We know! Shut up and let him finish!" Ashton said, causing Calum and Luke to hold their hands up in surrender to Ashton's sassiness.

"Me and that girl have just been talking for a few weeks now and she's been taking up a lot of my thoughts."

"Why are you so obsessed with this one chick? I mean, not to be arrogant or anything, but we have a lot of fans. Why this one?" Calum asked.

"That's what I'm about to tell you idiot," I rolled my eyes at their slowness. It was funny because it's usually the other way around. "Back when we lived in Sydney, I used to know this girl named Lacey Palmer..." I told them all the history Lacey and I had together as little kids and how we grew up together and how being with her always felt so natural and so real and just... good. I even said how I had developed a crush on her over the years.

"If you liked her so much, why didn't you just keep in touch with her after we started getting discovered? Then all of this hunting her down could be avoided," Luke stated the obvious.

"Luke," Ashton face palmed. "You do not rock."

"Oh come on," Luke pretended to be offended by Ashton's silly insult. "Is it because I'm wearing grey again?"

"No, it's because you're slow. Now let Michael finish his story!" Calum exclaimed.

"In her freshman year and my junior year, we were at this party..." And I started to tell what really happened. What I've had bottled up for so long. And this time, it wasn't Charlotte's version that ruined poor Lacey's life. It was mine.

It felt good.

How was everyone's day? I went to the library and got lots of books so that was good. I also watched a movie called Unfriended and it was very scary.

I'm so sorry if there's lots of typos, I wrote this on my phone.

Love y'all and good night! I know this is a late update but hey, I'm still doing them every day. At least I'm trying.
