"Okay you two, you've had your water, you've had your Tylenol, time to start talking. Why are y'all being so dramatic? Is there something I'm not picking up on?" Jasmine drilled us as I sat sprawled out on her couch next to Rachel. My head was pounding from the massive hangover I was having and I'm sure the same was true for Rachel. The water was helping though. Crisp. Cool. Refreshing. I took another sip.
"Well?" Jasmine raised her voice as Rachel and I continued to stare at her blankly. Jasmine hates being ignored but we couldn't really help it considering that we were basically zombies at this point.
"Quit playing dumb, you know exactly why I'm mad at you, pal," Rachel said rudely before sipping her water. She was wearing aviator sunglasses inside, and yet still managed to have a bored expression on her face.
"This isn't fair, Rach, how could I possibly know what's going on if you won't even talk to me?" Jasmine looked frustrated, but underneath that, hurt. I'm guessing she and Rachel don't fight for long periods of time like this very often and she felt guilty about making Rachel this upset.
"Ha! I won't talk to you? Jasmine, you're the one who's barely talked to me all week!" Rachel put her water down and took her shades off, looking Jasmine straight in the face.
"What?! What're you talking about? You literally haven't left my presence all week. We've been to what- four parties together? You're basically living at my house! How could you say I've been ignoring you?" Jasmine really looked hurt now. I personally thought Jasmine spoke to Rachel quite a lot, but I decided not to butt in until it was my turn to be yelled at, since I knew that time would come before this afternoon was over.
"You haven't been talking to me because you've been too busy talking to her!" Rachel lurched forward in her seat so she was sitting up straight and then pointed an accusing finger at me. It made me feel really guilty because part of what she said was true, I just hoped the other part wasn't.
"Of course I've been talking to her Rachel! She's visiting from freaking Australia, it's the first time ever she's been out of the country, it's the first time I'm seeing her in person, and I don't know when I'm going to be able to see her again!" Jasmine's harsh yells made my head start to throb again. I took another sip of water and rubbed my temples in order to make the pain go away. Rachel and Jasmine were still going at it, and I couldn't help but notice Jasmine hadn't said one thing about hanging out with me for Michael. If this was all a lie like Rachel said, then Jasmine really was a good liar.
"Okay fine, I'm a terrible friend who can't divide her time perfectly even so that both of you get enough precious Jasmine time. That still doesn't explain why you're mad at each other!" Jasmine's cheeks were streaked with tears of frustration at this point. I didn't see how someone who uses their friends could care so much, but I guess I was about to find out.
"Rachel told me all about your little plan," I spoke for the first time that day, followed by a huge gulp of my water. I put down the empty glass and prepared for impact.
"WHAT PLAN?! DAMMIT RACHEL WHAT DID YOU SAY TO HER?!" Jasmine completely flipped out.
"She says you've only been so nice to me because you want to get closer to Michael," I continued. "And that's why you gave me such a dirty look when we were in the pool and I said I wanted to kiss Michael Clifford more than anyone in the world."
