Lucy's POV

Three Days until Contest - Wednesday

With only a few days left until the contest, most people are more busy practicing for it than working. Natsu had probably already went on a job without me. He's being doing job after job since the announcement. Only ever stopping for a quick rest or food. And if I must admit it...I did miss him. We were always going on missions together, so it felt kinda weird when he was off without me.

I took a walk outside, trying to clear my mind. My song was about Natsu, and just singing it made me miss him more. As I walked around I soon found myself at the tree again. The girl from before was sitting under it.

"Um. Hey again." I greeted.

"Oh. Hi." She smiled back.

"You must really like this tree."

"Huh? Oh yeah. It reminds me of when I was younger."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Me and a friend of mine used to sit under a tree like this for hours. Just talking and joking around."

"Sounds like you had a lot of fun."

"We did..."

A small silence cut the air.

"So...where's your friend now?"

"No idea." She sighed with a smile. "Something happened a while ago and I haven't seen them since."

"Do you remember their name?"

"Nope. I don't remember much of my life before the age of 10. Something happened and I lost most my memories. I only get small glimpses or feelings every now and then." She stated. "That's why I like this tree. It feels familiar and homely."

Quiet again took over. We enjoyed the sounds of the area round us. People talking. Birds chirping. The wind. It felt peaceful.

"So I heard your Guild is having a contest of sorts. Fairy Tail was it?"

"Oh yeah. We are. Talents."

"You gonna participate?"

"Mhm. I need the money for my rent. Plus I think it'd be kinda fun."

"What you gonna do?"

"Sing."

"Really? That's awesome! I love to sing too."

"Really? In that case mind helping me?"

"Sure thing! Just one thing." She exclaimed. "What's your name?"

"Haha. I'm Lucy. Lucy Heartfilia."

"Nice to meet ya Lucy. I'm Miori Uzu. But you can call me Mio."

"Nice to meet you Mio."

I helped her up and we walked back to my place to practice. I got us some tea and some snacks.

"Thanks." She smiled. "So can I take a look at this song of yours."

I passed her the paper and she looked over it intently. Scanning over every word. Mouthing then as she went.

"Mind if I give it a sing?"

"S-sure."

"On a road far from home
The world I wished to roam
All over the land
All over the seas
All over where I may please

But in a small town by a dock one day
Is where my destiny lay
I found the key to my future and joy
In an odd-coloured hair energetic boy

He didn't seem like much
But my heart, he did touch
Can't get him outta my head
He clears all the tears that I shed

Can't get him outta my mind
When we first met he was so kind
Although he can be too much to bare
Having him so close to me seems fair." She breathed out.

I was amazed. She sung like you would expect an angel to. It almost made me cry.

"Well it's clear this is for some guy you know."

"What?!? No." I panicked. "I wrote this for nobody. The words-"

"Just came out your mouth?" She finished. "That's how you know it's for someone particular or related to something important to you. If the words come out without you having to think about them, then it shows even more just how important this person or memory is."

"Okay. Fine. Yes it's for somebody. They were actually the one who convinced me to take part in the contest." I told her. "He doesn't know it's for him though. I told him it was just random. Lucky for me he's stupid enough not to question otherwise."

We both gave out a small laugh. Mio took a sip of her tea and smiled.

"Your turn."

She passed me the paper back, and I started to sing. I got to the end of the second verse before she stopped me.

"That was good. Emotional but...when you said that last line, your voice went kinda shaky. Probably because you're describing him." She explained. "You feel worried that he'll find out you're talking about him or you're embarrassed. So you have to get over that. Try imagining an image of him in your head, rather than everyone in front of you."

I took her advise and went again. This time I was more calm and concentrated. She seemed to enjoy it.

"Good going. That was much better."

"Thanks."

"Now we need to figure out a chorus and maybe a couple more verses. So it can be 2 verses, chorus, 2 verses, chorus last verse or 2. Sound good?"

"Sure."

We worked on it for most the day. Natsu hadn't show up once.

"Okay so you wanna run again?"

"Okay, I'll try.

On a road far from home
The world I wished to roam
All over the land
All over the seas
All over where I may please

But in a small town by a dock one day
Is where my destiny lay
I found the key to my future and joy
In an odd-coloured hair energetic boy

Without him I wouldn't be here today
Without him I wouldn't have found my way. My way home.

He didn't seem like much
But my heart, he did touch
Can't get him outta my head
He clears all the tears that I shed

Can't get him outta my mind
When we first met he was so kind
Although he can be too much to bare
Having him so close to me seems fair

Without him I wouldn't be here today
Without him I wouldn't have found my way. My way home.

He is my hero
He is my smile
He is my world
He is the reason id walk miles, just to see him.

Because without him I would be here today.
Because without him I wouldn't have found my way. My way home
My way home to Fairy Tail."

She stared at me in utter surprise. Then she suddenly hug tackled me to the floor.

"Lucy that was amazing! If you don't win then nobody will! I feel like crying!" She cheered. "Now we can get started on the visual part of your performance, tomorrow."

"Why tomorrow?"

"Because you still need to keep practising that song. Keep practising. But be sure not to strain your voice. If it starts to hurt at all, even the tiniest bit, take a rest and have something to drink."

"Okay. Thanks for all your help Mio."

"No problem."
