Mio's POV

Soon after Natsu's break down, he managed to regain his composure and we went down to join everyone else.

"Natsu! Mio!" A familiar blondes voice rang. "Over here!"

We walked over to Lucy, who seemed to pick up on Natsu's lack of enthusiasm. Her smile turned into a look of confusion and concern.

"Hey Natsu, you okay? You seem kinda...calm." She asked.

"Huh. Oh I'm-"

I elbowed him in the side. I was not letting him lie anymore. Especially to Lucy.

He gave out a sigh. "No. Not really. I'll tell you after the party, I don't wanna bring down the mood."

Lucy seemed to be hesitant at first but accepted to wait, also not wanting to ruin the party for everyone else. We all tried our best to act happy and have a good time. We spent the afternoon dancing and listening to music. Soon enough the party ended and everyone went their ways home; except me, Lucy and Natsu.

We all ended up at Lucy's house for Natsu to tell Lucy the complete truth. I waited outside, not wanting to intrude,

Natsu's POV

"Now can you please tell me everything now?" She asked, worried.

I took in a deep breath before speaking.

"Well...not long after I joined Fairy Tail, a rumour started going around. About a girl with purple hair, who got killed in a gun fight near the forest where I lived with Igneel. That girl, as I suspected, ended up being Mio." I explained. "So every year around that time, I couldn't help but feel depressed because it was the anniversary of her death, and she was my first friend. And as we all know now, Mio is still alive. She's basically been the only one I could ever tell everything to. Whether it be a small secret or about emotional stuff. She could always tell when there was something wrong with me, and still can. I can trust her with anything. But...when I heard that she had apparently died, I felt absolutely nothing. Emotionless. In a state of pure numbness. I felt like I had truly lost the one soul person who I could ever believe in. The more I though about her after that, the more I saw of her in the guild. All the smiles and jokes. So the pain only got worse. I would think she would race in at any moment, as if she had joined the guild before me. But that never happened. Then..."

My breathing hitched. I already knew I was on the verge of crying.

"Than what, Natsu?" Lucy asked in a gentle voice.

"Then...I met you." I sniffed. "You reminded me of Mio the most. Even though you're nothing alike, you have the same smile. And I have the same warm feeling when I'm around you. Except-"

My sentence got cut off by a loud crashing sound. The room shook violently and Mio crashed through the door in a panic.

"Guys! We got to get the hell outta here!" She screamed.

Mio's POV

I waited outside for the two of them. I sat on the side of the river and stared into the water below. My feet dangling off the edge and making small ripples in the river as my toes moved. It felt nice and cool. As I sat, eyes closed, enjoying the peace, I suddenly smelt something.

I didn't know what it was, but I could tell it was dangerous. A huge beast suddenly blast out of nowhere. It was hard to make out in the dim light, but it was black with red lines running from its head along its back. If I didn't know any better, I would say it was a dragon. But the lack of wings debunked it immediately. It gave out an ear-reaching screech.

I ran inside and up the stairs and crashed into Lucy's room.

"Guys! We gotta get the hell outta here!" I almost screamed.

I took both their wrists and jumped out the window. We ran to the hall, the monster not too far behind us.

Just as we closed the door on the beast, I recognised the smell. It was a creature that had been after me a long time. That's all I knew.

I didn't know what is was or what it wanted from me. I just know that it was after me. Constantly following me. I never saw it until just those few moments ago.

Natsu's POV

We blocked the door on the monster. It was circling the Guild Hall. Pacing up and down the street. Waiting for us to come back out.

I saw Mio blocking up the door, a traumatised look on her face. I would have gone to ask her what was up, but I knew she could handle it. Besides, I saw Lucy sitting in the corner, shaking in terror.

I ran up to her in worry. I kneeled down to her side.

"Lucy. Lucy! Are you okay? Lucy?" I panicked.

"I-I'm scared." She stuttered. "What was that thing? It seemed smart. It didn't wreck anything. It just chased us. Like, it was after us...,what does it want?"

"Lucy calm down. It'll all be okay." I tried to calm her. "I promise. If that thing gets in here, I promise I'll kick its butt and protect you."

Not another second passed before there was another loud screech, and a part of one of the walls came crashing down. I used my body to cover Lucy from getting hit. I felt small jolts of pain surge through my back as bits of rubble hit into me.

"Lucy. You okay?" I asked, one eye open.

She looked up at me with a look of concern and terror.

"Y-yeah. I'm okay." She breathed heavily. "Are you?"

"Please. I've felt worse." I joked.

I helped her up and looked to the door, where Mio was still standing, frozen.

"MIO!" I called out. "You okay?"

She didn't reply. Just stood like a statue, eyes locked on the beast peering in through the hole in the wall.

Just then, 2 familiar faces landed in the room.

"Rogue? Sting? Why are you here?" I asked.

"We felt a massive source of magic, and we traced it here. Typical of Fairy Tail." Sting joked. "Looks like you could use some help."

We smiled and faced the creature.

"Looks like I gotta fulfil my promise sooner than I hoped." I told Lucy, smirking. "Stay here and get under any cover you can, in case any more rubble falls down. I'll beat the crap outta this thing. Rogue, stay here with Mio."

I gestured to her and he went to her side.

"Will do. Good luck guys." He nodded.

I darted off towards the beast. Gajeel joined my side as well as Sting.

"No way are you getting all the spotlight, Salamander."

"Then let's see who can land the final blow." Sting added.

"You guys are on." I smiled.

We all smirked and jumped before pounding our fists against the monsters head. Nothing but pain...for us. It's skin was as hard as diamond. We all yelled out in pain, and the monster gave out another screech.

Then I heard another scream. It was Mio. I looked toward where she was standing. She was on her hands and knees. Shaking violently. Her eyes glued wide and to the creature. Magic surging around her, uncontrollably. Rogue looked confused as he tried to calm her down, but to no avail.

Suddenly, a blast of magic shot from Mio and blasted the beast right in the eye. It let out a loud scream of pain, before backing out of the hole and dragging itself away over the mountains behind Magnolia.

Mio had fallen to the floor, Rogue holding her head on his knees.
