Episode 14: Cat's out of the bag

~Tsubaki's POV~

here waiting at a cafe for Shio-chan. or should i say, Kaori.

i've been always too curious about her. the way she acts, she does, she moves.. everything resembles Kao-chan.

Kaori has been my friend too. we were pretty close too. and i want to confirm it now.

"Sh-Shio-chan!" i waved to her and she smiled. since it's a sunday, i wore jeans and a plain white v-neck shirt that has a big smiley on it.

"cute outfit Shio-chan." she's wearing a pink sweater with a muffin on it, shorts and her converse holding her hair in a pony tail.

"thanks." she blushed as she sat down her chair and ordered something.

"Shio-chan, can we go shopping? just the two of us?" what? i wanted to get close to her too.

"girl bonding. you see, i'm always with the two idiots and well.. i haven't been into girly stuffs." i continued.

"sure!" a bright gleam set her eyes shining like diamonds. she likes shopping then?

we finished the food we ordered and went straight to a mall and shopped shoes, dresses and clothes. we chatted a lot and found out we had our similarities.

we're both fond of teasing Kousei. we like straight forward and honest guys too. we both love to eat too! we shared lots of shops that sells sweets then i said,

"Kao-chan's bakery sells the sweetest cakes i've tasted and its delicious too!" she made a big smile.

"hey, i know a nice ice cream shop just outside the mall. let's go get us some ice cream!" she giggled as she grabbed my arm and we scoot away towards the shop.

"we'll have, one chocomint ice cream for my friend and strawberry cheesecake ice cream for me.." Shio-chan said to the girl in the counter.

we waited for our order. then we ate it as soon as we got our ice cream.

"Shio-chan, do you play instruments? hmm.. like violin?"

she almost choked out her ice cream.

"y-yes. and i also play guitar."

"do you participate in violin contests?"

"yes- wait, pardon?" she put her spoon down. she might choke again if she keeps eating.

"so you do?" gotcha.

"yes i p-participate in c-contests but not violin!" she said.

"s-singing contests! yeah, i participate in those." then she looked at me, her eyes wavering.

"oh. then could you sing for me sometimes?" she's really pushing this through huh.

"s-sure." then she ate her ice cream again.

after i finished mine i asked her my final question.

"it's you huh, Kaori."

she stopped for a while, then continued eating.

"but i'm Shiori."she said looking at her ice cream.

"please.. if you're really Kaori, just say it. and say it now. you're my friend, aren't you Kao-chan?" if you are my friend, please say it now. i can't take it anymore.

"please." my voice pleading to her. she looked up at me and ran outside the shop.

i followed her and she just stood there outside. her back faced to me then, she turned to me and hugged me.

i feel something wet on my shoulder. i can feel her shaking. "Tsubaki-chan.." she's crying.

"K-Kao-chan?" s-she's alive!?

"i'm s-so s-sorry!" i think i'm tearing up too.

"why? why'd you keep it a secret!?" i hugged her tight. i missed this girl. i know i'm like her rival when it comes to Kousei but.. she's still my friend.

"i h-have to!" she bursted out crying.

"calm down. you can tell me." i patted her back.

we sat down a bench near the shop. after a while, she calmed down and told me everything. so that's why.

"don't worry, i'm not mad." i said. it was because of me.

"y-you're not?"

"i'm not. i was actually thinking about breaking up with Kousei."

"w-why!?" her eyes wide with full of concern.

"i don't want a relationship that makes me hurt and my partner not even caring about me."

"he cares for you! he loves you too." she said.

"i know. as his BEST FRIEND." i said and she looked down her lap.

"it's okay. i mean there are o-other g-guys out t-there.." i felt a drop of water fell down on my face.. tears, hot tears. my tears are out of control.

she hugged me and cried. "i'm so sorry." she mumbled.

"it's okay." i said. my heart is aching that it finally realized he's better off without me. he's too far away from me. he's not beside me anymore. he's with her and it's better this way than to hurt myself farther than this.

it's time to move on.

all we have to do is wait 'til evening to celebrate Kao-chan's birthday and Kousei's victory yesterday.

that reminds me,

"Belated Happy birthday Kao-chan." i said eyes still swelling from all the drama we just did.

"thanks!" she said smiling and her eyes were swelling too. noticing that, both of us laughed and just talked a lot until evening came and the two boys showed up.

oh boy.

"so, how about a sample of you singing?" i said. she gulped. "singing contests eh?" then i smirked.

a/n: uh oh.. what will Tsubaki do now that she knows Kaori?.. are they going to say Shiori's true identity? or still keep it a secret from the boys?
