I sighed in frustration when I heard Kam say those words.
“Ugh Kam, why couldn’t you just stick to ignoring me?” I whined in annoyance.
“Embry eh?” I heard the beautiful rumble of Atticus’ voice. I turned when my name seemed to roll off his tongue as if it were natural; like melted honey. I then rolled my eyes to hide the fact that I was having a mental orgasm just by the sound of his voice.
“It’s Embryae to you… Atticus.” I said, trying to seem nonchalant. I had to completely force myself to look away from the beautiful guy in front of me and turn back to an irritated Kam. “I just need some time to… think.” I said while looking at her, trying to reason with her so that I wouldn’t have to spend time with my so called ‘lover’; otherwise, I’d go completely bonkers. He seemed to find my reasoning funny though, as a soft chuckle escaped his luscious lips. I mentally scolded myself for thinking such things. I turned to glare at him, blaming him for my naughty thoughts. His chuckling came to an end when he took in my enraged glare.
“Embry, you’ve had enough time for thinking yesterday, that’s why I left you to yourself most of the day. Now, it’s time for you to get to know Atticus.” Came Kam’s response to my so called ‘reasoning’ that failed epically. I turned to look at Atticus once again, my eyes narrowing into slits, having more to blame him for at the moment than I had before. After a moment of me glaring at him, I sighed in defeat, knowing that it wouldn’t get me anywhere.
“Fine… I’m not promising that he’ll be in one piece by the end of the day.” I’d turned back to Kam while I answered and from the corner of my eye, I saw a smirk begin to spread across Atticus’ face; no words left his lips though, probably because he knew better than to piss me off by now. I huffed in annoyance at how he found this so amusing. Kam rolled her eyes at me, like she normally did when she thought I was acting irrational. I scowled, marching down the hill then. It most likely would’ve been an awesome dramatic exit, had the sound of Atticus’ footsteps following me ruin the moment.
I decided to ignore his following footsteps, trying to keep some dignity left. I mean, I already had to spend the whole day with him, not only was this guy infuriating to me, but he also seemed to be the one from the prophecy; my other half… my ‘lover’. I thought the word with disgust, wanting him to be anything but that.
At the end of the hill, I was still fuming about everything. How dare Kam make me stay with this… imbecile all day?!
The more I thought about everything, the more the adrenaline rushed through my veins. I guess it was time to let off some steam. I thought as I brought out into a run. I ran faster when I heard Atticus beginning to run as well. It was as if we’d begun some kind of race; not knowing when the finish line was. It seemed to be a silent challenge between each other. I was not going to back down from this one. I sped up once more when I heard Atticus begin to speed up, trying to catch up to me. That was the moment I broke out into a flat out sprint. There was no way in hell I was going to allow him to beat me.
I stopped running a little after that, taking in my surrounds. When I noticed the tombstones scattered about, I cursed under my breath. That seemed to be the moment that Atticus caught up with me. He was breathing heavily from our race, but I just wanted out of that place immediately. As I turned to run, Atticus stopped me with his right hand on my shoulder. I looked at it as if it would burn under my gaze, before trailing my gaze up to Atticus’ gray/indigo orbs. He seemed taken aback by the intensity my gaze held, but he didn’t back down in the slightest.
“What are we doing here?” He asked cautiously. I swallowed, my skin beginning to crawl and my body screamed for me to run as far away from here as possible.
“I-I have no idea, but we have to get out of here.” I demanded. He seemed to be confused by what I’d said though and refused to follow through.
“Why are you so paranoid of being here?” He asked, still looking around, as if this were the most entertaining thing he’d ever seen. I gulped again as goose-bumps began to coat my arms.
“I-I just d-don’t like it here is all. We have to go. Bad things happen when I’m here and my emotions are out of control.” I stated, trying to pull away from his vice-like grip, failing miserably. Panic began to rise in me, but I tried to calm down… knowing what could happen if I allowed my emotions to control me again. I stared at Atticus then, pleading him with my eyes for us to leave. Realization flickered in his gaze as he took in the surroundings again. He cursed as well as the surroundings dawned on him.
“Graveyard.” He spat then turning to leave, but it was already too late for me, for panic had seized hold of me. I cursed again, trying to calm myself. The ground began to tremble at that very moment. Fear seemed to suffocate me as he gasped hold of me, refusing to free me. I stood there frozen, trying to stop myself from raising another ghost.
