Let it snow

After Toriel guided you through the ruins straight to her hose, the two of you sat on the table in her living room with some pie before you. Firstly there was silence that overwhelmed you, but as soon as you started to explain how things worked in the timelines your nerves calmed down.

You've never went through a talk like this. Normally Toriel would not be aware of the timelines. Most likely she would only remember swiftly that you loved cinnamon. Nothing else. But not in this timeline.

"...And then there is also... Chara." you whispered knowing well Toriel might be hurt by your words. "She could kind of possess me or my sister, so I just had to erase her. Believe me – it's for the best." You've never lost a word about genocide. Thus Toriel would never know how many times she or anyone else died.

"Chara..." said the goat monster with a sad look on her face "She always hated humans. I can believe that she hates the whole world after what happened to our dear Asriel."

Yeah... You haven't explained anything about Asriel either. You've only met him once and only for a short period of time, because Frisk went amok while in battle with him and killed you causing another reset. But that was enough to know that Flowey was him – just without a soul and full of hatred.

He was your key for peace. You knew it.

"I'm sorry for your loss. Asriel must have been a wonderful boy." you muttered softly under your breath, trying not to cause more pain in the boss-monster's heart.

She sighed. "He really was. Him and Chara would run around the castle and have fun... But tell me (y/n), why are you telling me all of this?"

It was your time to sigh. "In all those timelines you've grown to be my mother and I need someone to talk about. Normally there would be someone else who remembers the timelines." You felt how your lips formed a sad smile. "We've spent a lot of time. But since I erased my own safe file... - Practically we've never met. I don't think he'll remember any of this because there is nothing to remember. Everything was set to zero as I fulfilled my duty to safe my sister and trying to make the world a better place."

"So you are afraid to face him?"

You nodded softly. "But that's not the whole point. To tell the truth I'm more afraid that he'll hate me this time. There is no way I'll ever reset. Not after everything I went through to be right here."

Toriel smiled at you with a warm smile before she took you into her arm. "I can't imagine there is someone who can hate you. You're such a nice kid. Whoever he is, he'll like you for sure." Then she got up and went into a different room. Before you could say anything she came back with a phone in her paws. "Here, you can have this cellphone. If something troubles you just call me." With this words she gave you the phone and you took it.

"Thank you very much, Toriel. For everything you did for me in every single timeline. You've saved my life so often from Flowey I can't even tell."

"Oh, my child, I wish you luck on your journey. May the luck be at your side. I presume you already know the way out, don't you?" you nodded, pulling your bag onto your lap to put the phone into it. As the bag was once again at your back you decided it was time to go down thee stairs. Toriel followed you.

At the purple door both of you stopped. Your heart felt heavy in your chest. "Goodbye Toriel. We will see each other soon."

"Someday when you've a choice to make, I hope you'll think of me. Be good, will you?"
