Potter, Be Mine

Sorting

The gleaming castle was magnificent. It was more beautiful then I could have ever imagined. I thought that Merlin's Academy was a beautiful school, but here I am looking at an even more ravishing school. 

I looked over at Hermione in astonishment and asked, "This is Hogwarts?!"

"Haha, ya it is. But they did give it a bit more shine after the battle with You-Know-Who." came the reply.

Of course I knew about the battle. Harry, had killed Voldemort for the second time here at Hogwarts. Just one more reason to have a crush on Harry Potter. 

I looked over at Ron. He was looking really uncomfortable. Harry noticed and whispered to me that one of his brothers had died in the fight. I felt awful, even though I had nothing to do with it. 

I shook of the bad feelings and looked at Hogwarts again. It was so enchanting with it's old stones and high towers.

Soon we arrived and got off. We were led to the dining room. I was told to stand near the front and wait. While the first years got sorted into the house another girl who just transferred here talked to me.

"Hey, I'm Triss."

"Hi I'm Katie. Is this your first year here too?" I replied.

"Ya, I used to be home schooled."

"Oh, cool." As I said this last word I heard Professor Dumbledore call me up. I walked onto the raised platform. 

"This is one of our two new students at Hogwarts. Katie here will be put into the eight year classes. Now, the Sorting Hat please." A lady handed him the hat and he placed it o my head. I knew there were only 7 years at Hogwarts, but with all the Voldemort  stuff, they added two years for this group of students. So I guess that included me.

It said, "Wow, strong aroma from this one. Has potential to be in Gryffindor. But seems like a Ravenclaw too. Ahhh... But what is this? Have a little crush on Mr.Potter do we?"I could not believe he just reveled that.I looked away as the other kids laughed. The hat went on."Don't worry, I can sense he likes you too. Plus, you and Hermione Granger have lots of memories I see. Best friends from what I can tell. I'll be nice and put you in GRYFFINDOR!!!" He shouted that last part.

I took the hat off and walked to the Gryffindor table as the Gryffindor house exploded in cheering and clapping. I sat down next to Hermione and across Harry and Ron.

Hermione and Ron made kissy faces at me and Harry while we just sat there in the awkwardness blushing at each other.

I saw Triss go up on the stage. I really wanted to see where she was placed.

The Sorting Hat started."Strong sense from this one too. Hufflepuff could use you, but you have something interesting buried inside. Plus, Draco Malfoy over there can't take his eyes off you. SLYTHERIN!!!" 

When everyone was sorted the enchanted plates heaped with food came out. The food was absolutely scrumptious.

"What's the matter Harry? Your not eating like a slob like before. Would it have anything to do with Katie?" Ron asked.

I looked away again. Hermione laughed when she saw me blushing.

"Ya, you too Katie. A bit more on edge than before. It could be something that you developed while I was at Hogwarts. But I think it has something to do with Harry." Hermione teased.

"Ya ya ya. Tease all you want. But just remember that you guys are then ones dating and snogging." Harry defended.

"Ya, so tell me a bit more about your love for Ron Hermione. I only just found out you were dating." I added with a bit of real interest. 

"We do not snog!" my best friend exclaimed. I laughed.

"Wait, what is that supposed to mean? Are you embarrassed by me?" Ron asked Hermione in a worried tone.

"Well... I mean.. It's just that..." Hermione trailed off. She stumbled for words when she didn't want to to hurt someone's feelings.

The night ended with Ron mad at Hermione and me crushing on Harry.
