I went into the dormitories with Hermione. We had just come back from Hogsmeade. I felt awful for leaving Harry to go deal with Ron in their dormintiories. Actually, I felt awful for everything- intruding their friendship and taking Harry, considering how many girls liked him. Even the ghost, Moaning Myrtle. Oh well.

We dressed for bed and laid there, staring at each other but without actually looking at each other.I think we were both thinking about the events at Hogsmeade. After a few minutes I decided to break the silence.

" You know I didn't do it on purpose, right?" I asked my best friend.

" Of course! But Ron sure thinks so."

" Ya. I feel bad, causing both of them that pain."

" Ya. But, you can't really blame Ron, can you? I know I don't. Even though he's wrong."

" No, you really can't. But still..."

" I know I'm a bit off topic but, it's kind of nice. To see Ron have a heart for once and care about his sister." I chuckled.

" Ya, he doesn't really let on that he has a heart. Hey, what are you going to do?"

" What do you mean?"

" Well, you say you believe me, but Ron's going to be even more upset that not even hs girlfriend will back him up."

" True. I honestly don't know. I guess I'll stay neutral."

" Ya..." Hermione looked at the clock on the wall. " Oh my! It's half past 11! We need to get some sleep! No wonder Lavander and Parvati are already asleep..." Hermione grumbled. I laughed.

" Goodnight Hermione."

I woke up in the morning and saw Hermione reading a book on her bed. I laughed. That's Hermion for you. I remember that that was one reason we were best friends. We were practically the only two kids that had an obsession with reading. Although, she liked to read to learn. I liked to read about fantasies and fiction. Hermione also read a bit more than me.

Hermione finally noticed me, after about fifteen minutes. I laughed, yet again. She put her book down and we both got dressed. Then we headed down the stairs to the Gryffindor common room. Harry was doing homework at one of the tables. We all headed down for breakfast. We didn't bother to wait for Ron, he was still mad.

I sat next to Harry and across Hermione. I poured my self pumpkin juice and grabbed a sizzling plate of sausages. We ate and talked. Then we all noticed Ron come in. He dragged his feet towards and I was so relived to see he wasn't mad anymore. But my heart fell when he walked past us ans sat with Seamus and Ginny.

I looked back at my other best friends. Harry was shaking his head and mumbling under his breath; Hermione seemed very devoted to finishing a pancake. I busied myself with a piece of toast.

After breakfast we headed up to Transfiguration. On our way up the stairs I collided with non other than Ron. He looked and his face turned bitter when he realized it was us. I felt Harry get closer to me.

" Sorry" I mumbled.

" Hi Hermione. Harry." Ron said, completley ignoring me. I felt a pang of hurt.

" Aren't you goung to say anything to Katie?" Harry asked, clearly anxious. Hermione didn't say anything.

" No, sorry. Not friends with people like her." Ron replied looking innocent. A wave of anger washed over me, but I didn't do anything.

" RON!" Harry bellowed. I scooted closer to Hermione. Silly as it may seem, I was scared. Hermione seemed to be too.

" WHAT?! YOU WANT ME TO BE FRIENDS WITH THAT LIAR THAT HURT MY SISTER?! GINNY IS STILL CRYING IN HER ROOM!" Ron screamed back. This got people looking. Me and Hermione looked around nervously. I was hoping someone would stop this, but it didn't seem like that was going to happen.

" GUESS WHAT RON?! THAT'S NOT MY FAULT! I CAN APOLOGIZE TO GINNY, BUT NOT TO YOU!" Harry replied. I felt my face turn red, my eyes tearing up. I felt horrible! I made these two bet friends fight like this! I looked back at the arguing pair and saw both of them had their wands out. Oh no. This was going further

" STUPE-" Harry started, raising his wand, as Ron started with " EXPIR-", I suddenly, surprising us all, screamed at them to stop. Everyone turned to look at me. I went even redder. There was no turning back now.

" Just stop it! Both of you!" I yelled. " Please! I never wanted this to happen!" Then, now speaking normally, said, " Look, Harry thank you for sticking up for me. That means a lot. And Ron, really? I would never hurt Ginny intentionally. And now I'm mad at you for saying all that. I thought we were friends! I'll apologize to Ginny. But not  for you, for her." I stormed off and back up the staircase. Harry followed behind, which made me smile.

I guess he was on my side. Hermione apparently wasn't, she was staring up at us, anxiously, beside Ron. At least I know whose side she's on.
