Ginny's Forgiveness

It was now January. Harry and Ron had gotten detention. They had helped George with a prank. McGonagall did not like finding toads in every single room at Hogwarts. Especially when she found one in her salad at lunch.

So in other words, Hermione and I were heading down to the library. We were going to get started on a Herbology essay. Even though it wasn't due for a few weeks. But you know what they say. When with Hermione, you get everything done. No matter how early.

I put down my bag at a table. Then got up to scan the shelves with Hermione. We found a few books and took them back to the table. As we sat down I noticed that Hermione kept shooting nervous glances at someone behind me. I turned around and saw that Ginny was sitting at the table behind us, still reading about vampires. I figured that Hermione was just scared that Ginny would do something, considering she was still mad at us. Or me, rather. It was nothing to me. Although my best friend was the type to be really upset when someone got mad at her or something, I was always the there-are-other-people-to-be-friends-with type. I went back to my book, Mediterranean Plants and How to Use Them.  After about two hours work, Hermione finally shot her last glance at Ginny. She started to get up and said " I'll be right back. Just got to go the bathroom." and scrambled away. I shrugged and started to take notes on her already 10 page essay for my one page essay. I laughed at how it was only supposed to be 3 pages. And I am pretty sure that she wasn't finished yet.

Almost immediately Ginny walked over to my table. I looked up at her. Her face was a mask of shame.

" Hey Ginny." I said, trying to subtly hint, under my nice tone, that I didn't want to talk to her. I am pretty sure she noticed but ignored it anyway.

" Hi Katie. I just want to get to the point. I am so so sorry. I was hurt and mad and was just not thing straight. I would never be that mean to you on purpose. Just as I know neither one of you would have purposely kissed the other in front of me." I looked back up from Hermione's, now mine, notes. So Ron had talked to her. I smiled at her.

" I am so glad you know that now. Neither me or Harry would've intentionally hurt you. I really want to be friends. But not like before, I dont want there to be any more tension between us about Harry."

" Trust me, there won't be. I am truly over him now. I've- I've found someone else. Anyway, thanks for understanding."

" No problem. And uh- who's this special fellow, huh?" I asked, raising my eyebrows. My eyes landed on Hermione watching us from behind a nearby shelf.

" Oh... It's no one." Ginny got a dreamy look in her eye. I laughed.

" Doesn't seem like no one. Come on now, were friends. Who is it?"

" Well... Um... It's Neville." She said, really embarrassed. Her face was pink now.

" Neville!? Awww! You guys could make such a cute couple! I am so going to be helping out with th at" I said mischievously. Ginny grinned.

" Yeah, well... Anyways, I am so glad we can be friends now. I am going to go finish reading so..." She got up and walked away. But a second later she returned.

" Finish the book already?" I joked. She smiled.

" No, just forgot to tell you something. Ron said he wanted you to meet him tommorrow night. At one o' clock in the morning, in the Gryffindor common room. He also said to go alone. And not to tell anyone. He already made me swear."

" Oh, um... OK. He say what about?"

" No, nothing. Just said to tell you and leave it at that. Well, see you at Quitidge practice!" I waved good-bye. I wondered what Ron wanted.

" So, what was that about?" Hermione asked, plopping herself onto her chair again.

" I know you were in on the apology, Hermione." She went red and shrugged. when I finished my three page essay and Hermione her 12 page one, it was eleven o' clock. We headed back up to our common room. I saw  Neville sitting there, doing homework by the fireplace.

" Hey, Hermione. I'll be right up. Go on to bed without me." She nodded and went to our dormitory. I approached Neville. He looked up at me from his Herbology essay. It was his favorite, and only one he was good at, subject.

" Oh, hello Katie."

" hey Neville."

" What is it? Need help on Herbology homework?" It wouldn't be the first time. I had asked him for help many times.

" No, I don't. Thanks. I, uh... Just wanted to say that um... Just, what do you think of Ginny?"

" Ginny? Promise not to tell? It could ruin my friendship with her and Ron."

" I promise." I said quickly.

" Well, in my opinion, Harry's a fool. No offense to him or you, of course. But he could've had the most amazing girl to every walk this earth, and he refuses?! Doesn't make sense at all! I mean, I have had it hot for her since my third year!" He had gotten that same dreamy look in his eyes that Ginny had gotten. It was really sweet.

" Wait, you won't tell right? I really don't want to ruin any of my friendships. Hold on a second! Why the sudden interest? Do you know something!?" He asked, very excited.

" My lips are sealed. But, uh... If I were you I would take my chances and ask her out." I winked as Neville started to get really happy again.

" Wait!" he shouted.  I scrambled up the stairs and into bed.
